Radiation Therapy Technologist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a radiation therapy technologist in Texas?
You must earn a certificate or associate degree from a JRCERT-accredited radiation therapy program, pass the ARRT Radiation Therapy examination, and then obtain a medical radiologic technologist certificate from the Texas Medical Board before practicing. Texas requires this state-issued certificate in addition to national ARRT credentials. Most accredited programs include clinical rotations at Texas cancer centers, giving graduates a direct path into the Texas job market.
Which companies hire radiation therapy technologists in Texas?
Employers hiring radiation therapy technologists in Texas right now include Optum, Texas Oncology, and CHRISTUS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Texas's concentration of NCI-designated cancer centers and large for-profit health systems means consistent hiring volume across both major metros and regional medical centers throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most radiation therapy technologist jobs?
Houston, West, and Irving have the most radiation therapy technologist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense cluster of cancer centers anchored by MD Anderson, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume through its large regional hospital networks and growing suburban oncology outpatient facilities, and San Antonio benefits from both military health systems and large civilian academic medical programs.
Are there remote radiation therapy technologist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Radiation therapy is a hands-on clinical role requiring direct patient contact and operation of specialized equipment, so the vast majority of positions require on-site presence. About 25% of radiation therapy technologist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles are almost exclusively in treatment planning review, dosimetry support, or administrative coordination rather than direct patient treatment.
How can I get hired as a radiation therapy technologist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate positions at large Texas health systems that run structured oncology residency or clinical orientation programs, such as those offered through MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Southwestern. Candidates who completed clinical rotations at Texas facilities have a clear advantage since those relationships often lead directly to job offers. Holding your ARRT registry and Texas Medical Board certificate from day one removes a common barrier that causes new grads to lose offers to faster-credentialed applicants.
Where can I find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your credentials and experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
