Tips for Your Radiation Therapy Technologist Job Search
List your treatment planning software clearly
Employers screen for proficiency in specific platforms like Eclipse, Pinnacle, or RayStation. Name each system you've used in your skills section and note the clinical context, such as IMRT planning or SBRT delivery, so hiring managers can verify your hands-on depth.
Highlight your ARRT certification status prominently
Your ARRT (T) credential and any advanced certifications like ARRT (CT) should appear near the top of your resume, not buried in a credentials section. Many applicant tracking systems filter candidates before a human reads a single line.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists radiation therapy technologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to the patient population
Pediatric oncology centers, proton therapy facilities, and community hospitals each prioritize different experience. Adjust your bullet points to reflect the patient volume, tumor sites, and treatment modalities most relevant to each employer's posted caseload.
Prepare clinical scenario answers before interviews
Interviewers at radiation therapy programs routinely ask how you handle a patient who cannot maintain treatment position or when you'd pause a fraction mid-delivery. Rehearse specific examples from your clinical rotations or current role, not hypothetical responses.
Negotiate your continuing education benefit directly
Radiation therapy requires ongoing ARRT continuing education credits and periodic equipment training. During offer discussions, ask explicitly about employer-paid conference attendance, in-service training days, and CEU reimbursement limits rather than assuming they are included.
Radiation Therapy Technologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most radiation therapy technologists?
The companies hiring the most radiation therapy technologists right now include CHRISTUS Health, Rochester Regional Health, and Northside Hospital, with the largest share of openings in New York, Texas, and Ohio, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Large health systems and regional cancer center networks tend to post the most consistent volume throughout the year.
How many radiation therapy technologist jobs are remote?
About 18% of radiation therapy technologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of July 2026, since most duties require hands-on patient treatment and equipment operation. The sub-specialty areas with the most remote or hybrid flexibility include dosimetry support, quality assurance review, and some administrative or education-focused roles within radiation oncology departments.
How do you become a radiation therapy technologist?
You complete an accredited radiation therapy program, which awards either an associate or bachelor's degree and includes supervised clinical rotations. After graduating, you pass the ARRT examination in Radiation Therapy to earn your credential. Many states then require a separate state license before you can practice, so you apply for that license once your ARRT certification is confirmed.
How do you get hired as a radiation therapy technologist with little experience?
Clinical rotation hours completed during your accredited program count as hands-on experience, so document the treatment sites, modalities, and patient volumes you worked with in detail. Applying to new-graduate or residency-track postings at community hospitals or regional cancer centers gives you a realistic entry point. Emphasizing your ARRT eligibility date and any exposure to specific linear accelerator models helps your application stand out before you accumulate years of post-graduation experience.
What does the radiation therapy technologist interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a phone or video screen conducted by a recruiter or HR representative, followed by an in-person or panel interview with the chief therapist, radiation oncologist, or department manager. You should expect clinical scenario questions about patient positioning, equipment interlocks, and radiation safety protocols. Some facilities include a brief skills demonstration or tour of the treatment vault as part of the final interview stage.
Where can I find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs?
You can find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials, preferred location, and treatment specialization, then apply directly to each listing that fits your goals.
