Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist plays an essential role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. This position supports the Radiation Oncology team in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered services while promoting patient comfort, dignity, and confidence throughout the treatment journey. The Radiation Therapist contributes to positive patient experiences and the overall quality of oncology services at Maury Regional Health.
Responsibilities
Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to established treatment plans.
Position patients and operate specialized radiation therapy equipment to deliver precise treatments while maintaining appropriate radiation safety standards and quality assurance procedures.
Assess and monitor patients throughout treatment sessions, recognize changes in patient condition, and communicate concerns to the Radiation Oncologist and appropriate clinical team members.
Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment delivery and support individualized patient care.
Educate patients and families about radiation therapy procedures, treatment expectations, and safety precautions while providing compassionate support throughout the cancer treatment journey.
Maintain accurate treatment records, perform required equipment and safety checks, and follow departmental protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards to ensure high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
Board Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Technologist in Radiation Therapy, R.T.(T) (Required)
2 Years of Related Experience (Preferred)
