Entry Level Hospitalist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hospitalist job?
Focus on completing your residency or fellowship and building a record of strong clinical evaluations, as most entry level hospitalist employers prioritize demonstrated inpatient experience over tenure. Highlighting rotations in internal medicine or general hospital medicine, obtaining board certification, and securing strong attending references all give candidates a clear edge at this stage. Applying to community hospitals and regional health systems tends to yield faster responses than large academic centers.
Which companies hire entry level hospitalists?
Companies hiring entry level hospitalists right now include Pediatrix Medical, Mayo Clinic, and CommonSpirit Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of regional hospital systems, physician staffing groups, and independent community hospitals that actively recruit new physicians to grow their inpatient coverage teams.
Are there remote entry level hospitalist jobs?
Yes, though most hospitalist roles are inherently on-site given the hands-on nature of inpatient medicine. About 0% of entry level hospitalist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically covering telemedicine-assisted overnight coverage, utilization review, or virtual hospital programs that complement on-site clinical teams.
Are these new grad hospitalist jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior hospitalist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, counts completed residency training toward eligibility, or accepts internship and rotation experience in place of independent attending experience. Look for language like 'new graduates encouraged to apply' or 'no minimum post-residency experience required.'
Which industries hire the most entry level hospitalists?
Entry Level hospitalist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because inpatient volume, patient throughput demands, and physician staffing gaps create consistent openings for physicians completing residency training.
