Entry Level Physical Therapy Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level physical therapy assistant job?
Start by completing your associate degree from an accredited program and passing the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE-PTA). Employers hiring at this level prioritize clinical rotation hours, a willingness to work across patient populations, and a valid state license. Tailoring your resume to highlight hands-on patient care experience, even from supervised internships, gives you a clear edge over candidates who list coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level physical therapy assistants?
Companies hiring entry level physical therapy assistants right now include FOX Rehabilitation, Rehab Employee Services, and PruittHealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this experience level, hiring tends to come from outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies that actively mentor new graduates alongside licensed physical therapists.
Are there remote entry level physical therapy assistant jobs?
Yes, though most physical therapy assistant work is hands-on and on-site. About 0% of entry level physical therapy assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those postings typically involve administrative, telehealth support, or care coordination duties rather than direct patient treatment. On-site roles in clinics and rehabilitation settings remain the primary path for new grads.
Are these new grad physical therapy assistant jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior physical therapy assistant roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts clinical rotation hours or internships in place of full-time work history, or explicitly mentions mentorship and supervision by a licensed physical therapist. Checking for those phrases in a job description helps you identify the best-fit openings quickly.
Which industries hire the most entry level physical therapy assistants?
Entry Level physical therapy assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors drive the most entry level hiring because they rely on high patient volume, ongoing rehabilitation caseloads, and a steady pipeline of newly licensed assistants to support credentialed physical therapists across a range of care settings.
