Radiation Therapy Technologist Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a radiation therapy technologist in California?
You must hold a valid California radiation therapist license issued by the California Department of Public Health Radiologic Health Branch. To qualify, you need to complete an accredited radiation therapy program, which is typically an associate or bachelor's degree, and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam in radiation therapy. California does not grant reciprocity automatically, so out-of-state applicants must apply directly to the state licensing board.
Which companies hire radiation therapy technologists in California?
Companies currently hiring radiation therapy technologists in California include UC Irvine Health, Providence, and Healthforce, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. California's large integrated health systems and university medical centers tend to have the most consistent openings across the state.
Which California cities have the most radiation therapy technologist jobs?
Orange, Palo Alto, and Eureka have the most radiation therapy technologist openings in California. Los Angeles dominates because of its sheer volume of major hospital systems and dedicated cancer centers, while San Francisco and San Diego benefit from large academic medical centers and research-affiliated oncology programs that sustain steady hiring throughout the year.
Are there remote radiation therapy technologist jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Radiation therapy technologists operate linear accelerators and deliver hands-on patient treatment, which requires an in-person clinical setting by nature. About 0% of radiation therapy technologist openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles are almost entirely limited to treatment planning review, dosimetry support, or administrative functions rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a radiation therapy technologist in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate positions at large California health systems that hire directly from accredited programs, including Kaiser Permanente and UC Health campuses, which periodically run oncology department onboarding cohorts for new therapists. Completing a clinical rotation at a California facility strengthens your application considerably. Candidates who hold their California Radiologic Health Branch license and ARRT certification before applying have a clear advantage over those still pending credentialing.
Where can I find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs in California?
You can find and apply to radiation therapy technologist jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated on an ongoing basis. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
