Manufacturing Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a manufacturing job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on Northeast Philadelphia and the riverfront industrial zones along the Delaware, where food processing plants, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and metal fabrication shops concentrate most of their hiring. Candidates with forklift certification, CNC machining experience, or quality control backgrounds move quickly through screening. Applying directly to employers in the Navy Yard and Port Richmond gives you an edge over applicants targeting only downtown postings.
Which companies hire manufacturings in Philadelphia?
Companies currently hiring manufacturings in Philadelphia include AstraZeneca, Trigo, and Rhoads Industries, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Philadelphia's manufacturing employer base is anchored by food and beverage producers, pharmaceutical operations, and precision metal fabricators, with a growing cluster of defense and aerospace suppliers operating near the Navy Yard.
Are there remote manufacturing jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, but only for a narrow set of roles. Hands-on production, assembly, and machine operation positions are by definition on-site, while quality assurance analysts, supply chain coordinators, and manufacturing engineers sometimes work remotely or on hybrid schedules. About 0% of manufacturing openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with remote availability highest among planning, procurement, and technical documentation roles.
How can I get a manufacturing job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through general labor or production associate roles at Philadelphia's food processing and packaging facilities, which regularly hire without prior manufacturing experience and provide on-the-job training. Philadelphia's community colleges and the city's workforce development centers offer short-term certifications in forklift operation and OSHA safety that employers here recognize. Starting in a material handler or warehouse role at a Northeast Philadelphia distribution or light manufacturing facility is a common lateral move into full production work.
