SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Crane Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in industrial environments.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs on-site inspections, maintenance, and repairs of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, structural, and electrical issues.
• Conducts load tests and ensures equipment meets safety and operational standards.
• Installs and commissions new crane systems and components.
• Maintains accurate records of service calls, repairs, and parts used.
• Communicates with customers to explain repairs and recommend preventive maintenance.
• Adheres to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Ensures all tools, equipment, and work areas are in a clean and safe condition.
• Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency service requests as needed.
• Understands and learns equipment operation through training, observation, and reading operations manuals.
• Develops and maintains positive customer relations.
• Efficiently communicates with other personnel.
• Abides by all company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; must be 18 years or older.
• Technical certificate or associate degree in an electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical field preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial wiring.
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work.
• Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
• Basic welding and torch-cutting experience is a plus.
• Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends when required.

This is a field-based position working at customer facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

You can expect to:

• Work around industrial equipment and machinery
• Be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and grease
• Climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, catwalks, and lift equipment
• Use fall protection and other required safety equipment
• Work a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation
