Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machinery at customer facilities throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience servicing CNC machines and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems. This position requires strong technical skills, independent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing reliable customer service.
The technician will work independently in the field while collaborating with service coordinators and equipment manufacturers to diagnose issues, minimize equipment downtime, and ensure optimal machine performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machinery at customer locations.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control-related equipment issues.
- Troubleshoot CNC controls, PLCs, motors, drives, and related systems.
- Perform machine alignments, calibrations, functional testing, and equipment adjustments.
- Service multi-axis CNC machines, lathes, and vertical and horizontal machining centers.
- Work with CNC control systems, including FANUC, Mazak, Okamoto, or comparable platforms.
- Provide on-site technical guidance and training to customer operators and maintenance personnel.
- Complete service reports, document parts usage, and maintain accurate job records.
- Coordinate with internal service teams and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain appropriate tools, spare parts, and service equipment.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and timely service.
- Travel throughout Western Pennsylvania to provide on-site technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience servicing and repairing CNC machinery.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in CNC equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical schematics, PLCs, motors, drives, and machine controls.
- Familiarity with CNC control platforms such as FANUC, Mazak, Okamoto, or similar systems.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems and perform repairs independently.
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel throughout Western Pennsylvania, including occasional overnight stays.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial automation, robotics, pallet changers, and related systems.
- Familiarity with MS Office and digital service documentation tools.
- Experience servicing multi-axis CNC machines and machining centers.
- Previous field service experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
