Position Description
The Department of Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Washington Bothell invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Lecturer Part Time (multi-year), with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.
The successful candidate will join our faculty on a part-time basis with a base load of 55.55%, with potential for up to 88.89% depending on curricular need, for a 9-month service period. The position has an expectation of teaching between five courses (with the potential to increase up to eight courses depending on need) in the three quarters of the regular academic year. Positions in this title are non-tenure track, non-voting, and non-promotable. Appointments in these positions may be for multiple years (1-5 years), with an anticipated initial appointment of one year. Reappointments are contingent upon instructional needs, performance, and funding.
The full-time (100%) base salary is $8,400-9,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This full-time monthly rate is then prorated based on assigned FTE for the duration of the 9-month academic year.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in Electrical Engineering.
The Electrical Engineering program is part of the Department of Engineering and Mathematics, which is housed in the School of STEM. In addition to Electrical Engineering, the department has programs in mechanical engineering, computer engineering, and Mathematics. The program offers a BS in Electrical Engineering, a BS in Computer Engineering (jointly run with the Department of Computer Systems and Software (CSS), an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Graduate Certificate in Electrical and Computer Engineering Foundation. The Electrical Engineering program is comprised of 8 full-time and several part-time faculties, with vast academic and industrial experience. The EE faculty have expertise in a broad range of areas, including power systems, signal processing, communication systems, power electronics, embedded systems, design of organic cells, AI and machine learning, etc. The program has well-equipped labs and facilities to conduct teaching and research.

Our faculty members are dynamic educators who engage in innovative, evidence-based pedagogies. The school is housed in several buildings on a vibrant campus collocated on a restored 100-acre wetland with an active salmon stream, including the 74,000 square-foot Discovery Hall teaching and laboratory facility, and our new 80,000 square-foot STEM building, Innovation Hall – the first shared academic building between a community college and university in the country.

Applicants for this teaching faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s, preferably Ph.D., degree in electrical engineering or closely related field required by time of appointment.
