Master Electrician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a master electrician in Texas?
To become a master electrician in Texas, you must obtain a Master Electrician license through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The path requires completing a state-approved application, passing the Master Electrician examination, and meeting the experience requirements set by TDLR. Most candidates first hold a Texas Journeyman Electrician license and accumulate qualifying field experience before sitting for the master-level exam. TDLR's licensing portal outlines current education, experience, and exam requirements.
How much do master electricians make in Texas?
Master electricians in Texas earn a median of about $58,570 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,920 for the lowest 10% to over $80,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire master electricians in Texas?
Employers hiring master electricians in Texas right now include NVIDIA, Apple, and Qualcomm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of petrochemical plants, data centers, and large commercial construction projects means that electrical contractors and industrial facility operators maintain consistent year-round openings.
Which Texas cities have the most master electrician jobs?
Austin, Richardson, and Houston account for the most master electrician openings in Texas. Houston's density of petrochemical refineries and industrial facilities drives significant demand there, while Dallas-Fort Worth's rapid commercial construction and corporate campus growth sustains a deep contractor market, and San Antonio's expanding military installations and healthcare campuses generate steady openings for licensed master electricians.
Are there remote master electrician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Master electrician work is fundamentally hands-on and site-dependent, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 12% of master electrician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve project management, estimating, or code consulting rather than direct installation work.
How can I get hired as a master electrician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a formal apprenticeship through a Texas-based program such as those affiliated with the Independent Electrical Contractors Texas Gulf Coast chapter or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local unions across Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Large Texas electrical contractors often accept apprentice applicants directly and provide structured on-the-job training. Moving from a helper or electrician's assistant role while pursuing your Texas Journeyman license builds the documented hours TDLR requires to eventually qualify for master-level credentialing.
Where can I find and apply to master electrician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to master electrician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your license level and preferred location, and apply directly to each listing without creating a profile or signing up.
