Material Control Clerk Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a material control clerk in Kansas?
Most Kansas employers hire material control clerks with a high school diploma or equivalent, though an associate degree in supply chain, logistics, or business administration strengthens your application considerably. There is no state-issued license specific to this role in Kansas. Candidates who gain proficiency in inventory management software and earn a forklift certification before applying are consistently prioritized, particularly by aerospace and defense employers in the Wichita metro who run on-the-job training programs for new hires.
Which companies hire material control clerks in Kansas?
Employers hiring material control clerks in Kansas right now include Walmart, Spirit AeroSystems, and Boeing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's strong aerospace manufacturing base around Wichita and government contracting activity near Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth make the state a consistent source of openings in both private industry and federal supply chain roles.
Which Kansas cities have the most material control clerk jobs?
Wichita, Olathe, and Kansas City account for the largest share of material control clerk openings in Kansas. Wichita leads because of its deep aerospace and defense manufacturing sector, anchored by major aircraft producers and suppliers, while Kansas City draws demand from distribution centers and logistics operations tied to its role as a major freight corridor hub.
Are there remote material control clerk jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they are rare. Material control clerks typically work on-site to physically receive, inspect, count, and move inventory, which limits remote eligibility by the nature of the role. About 0% of material control clerk openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve procurement coordination, data entry, or inventory auditing functions that do not require physical warehouse presence.
How can I get hired as a material control clerk in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for warehouse associate or shipping and receiving clerk roles at Kansas distribution centers or aerospace suppliers, then transitioning into material control as you build inventory system experience. Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita both hire entry-level supply chain support staff and provide internal training. Earning a forklift certification before applying and completing a short supply chain or logistics certificate through Wichita State University or a Kansas community college gives candidates a concrete edge over other applicants without experience.
