Project Assistant Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project assistant in Kansas?
Most project assistant roles in Kansas require at least an associate degree, with many employers in Wichita's aerospace sector and Topeka's government agencies preferring a bachelor's in business administration or a related field. No state-issued license is required for the role, but earning a Certified Associate in Project Management credential strengthens applications significantly. Candidates who gain experience through internships with Kansas-based manufacturers or state agencies tend to move into full-time roles faster.
Which companies hire project assistants in Kansas?
Kansas project assistant roles are posted by Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, Quanta Services, and McCarthy Building and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kansas's aerospace manufacturing base and its concentration of federal and state government agencies create steady, recurring demand for project assistants across both the private and public sectors.
Which Kansas cities have the most project assistant jobs?
Overland Park, Topeka, and Wichita have the most project assistant openings in Kansas. Wichita leads because of its deep aerospace and defense manufacturing presence, while Overland Park benefits from its concentration of corporate headquarters and technology firms, and Topeka generates consistent openings through state government agencies and associated contractors.
Are there remote project assistant jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since project assistants often support on-site teams and in-person meetings. About 0% of project assistant openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a market where hybrid arrangements are more available than fully remote. Administrative coordination tasks and status reporting tend to be the functions most often performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a project assistant in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for project coordinator intern or administrative associate roles at large Kansas employers such as Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita or state agencies in Topeka, which routinely hire candidates without direct project management experience.
