Project Assistant Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project assistant in Pennsylvania?
Most Pennsylvania employers hire project assistants with a bachelor's degree in business, communications, engineering, or a related discipline. The role has no state-issued license, so your path runs through education and experience rather than a credentialing board. Many candidates start in administrative coordinator or office assistant positions at Pennsylvania universities, health systems, or government agencies, then move into project support roles. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management credential strengthens your application considerably across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg employers.
Which companies hire project assistants in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania project assistant roles are posted by Jobot, Penn State University, and Riggs Distler & Company and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's mix of large health systems, financial institutions, engineering firms, and state government agencies means openings are spread across several industries rather than concentrated in one sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most project assistant jobs?
Pittsburgh, Lancaster, and Philadelphia lead Pennsylvania for project assistant openings. Philadelphia drives the largest share because of its dense concentration of health systems, financial services firms, and consulting practices, while Pittsburgh's engineering, technology, and university sectors anchor strong demand there, and Harrisburg generates consistent openings through state government agencies and contractors that support public-sector project work.
Are there remote project assistant jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and they're more common than in many roles. About 19% of project assistant openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on coordination, documentation, and communication rather than physical presence. The most fully remote openings tend to involve IT project support, software implementation coordination, and roles within financial services or consulting firms.
How can I get hired as a project assistant in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an administrative coordinator or department assistant role at a Pennsylvania university, health system, or state agency, where project work is embedded in daily responsibilities. Penn Medicine, UPMC, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania all hire entry-level administrative staff who transition into formal project support within one to two years. Building proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet and completing the Certified Associate in Project Management course signals readiness to hiring managers even without direct project titles on your resume.
Where can I find and apply to project assistant jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to project assistant jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to see or apply to the openings.
