Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Glazing (Full-Time, Entry Level / Will Train)
Location: Ocala, FL (in person — office near downtown Ocala) Pay: $18.00/hour to start, with increases as you take on more responsibility Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time, 8-hour shift
About Us
Robinson Glazing Solutions is an established commercial glazing contractor in Ocala. We build and install storefronts, curtain wall, and other commercial glass systems on commercial, educational, and government projects across Florida. Our workload keeps growing, and our project manager needs someone who can take work off their plate and grow into the role.
Position Overview
This is a train-from-the-ground-up position. You do not need construction experience. You do need to be organized, comfortable on a computer, and genuinely interested in learning how commercial construction projects get run.
You'll start by supporting our project managers with paperwork, tracking, and follow-up. As you learn the systems and the trade, you'll take ownership of more of the project — eventually running jobs of your own.
This role is mostly office work with some time in the field — job site visits, field measurements, and walking projects with our crews so you understand what the paperwork actually represents.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing and tracking submittals, RFIs, and shop drawing approvals
- Creating and maintaining project schedules, material tracking logs, and job cost sheets in Excel
- Issuing purchase orders and following up with suppliers on material lead times and deliveries
- Organizing project documentation — plans, specs, contracts, change orders, closeout packages
- Coordinating deliveries and crew schedules with our field foremen
- Communicating with general contractors, architects, and suppliers by phone and email
- Visiting job sites to check progress, take field measurements, and document conditions with photos
- Assisting with takeoffs, quantity counts, and bid preparation
- Using AI tools to speed up documentation, correspondence, and research
What We're Looking For
- Organized. You track details, keep lists, follow up without being reminded, and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Strong with Microsoft Excel. Formulas, sorting/filtering, and clean formatting. You should be able to build a tracking spreadsheet from scratch.
- Comfortable with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) and interested in using them to work faster and smarter.
- Clear communicator. Professional on the phone and in writing — you'll be dealing with general contractors and suppliers daily.
- Coachable and self-motivated. We will teach you the industry. You bring the work ethic and the willingness to ask questions.
Requirements
- Reliable and punctual — able to report to the office by 7:00 a.m., Monday–Friday
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (must qualify for company vehicle insurance)
- Able to pass a background check (required for access to military bases, schools, and government projects)
- Willing to travel within the state occasionally, including rare overnight stays
- Able to walk active job sites safely and lift moderate weight when needed
- Construction experience is a plus but not required — we will train the right person
Why Work With Us
- Real career path. Assistant PM → Project Manager. Commercial glazing is a specialty trade with strong long-term earning potential, and there is no substitute for learning it from the inside.
- Direct mentorship. You'll work alongside the owner and experienced project managers who want you to succeed.
- Consistent work. Steady commercial and government projects throughout Central Florida.
- We use modern tools. We're not a clipboard-and-fax company. If you can find a better way to do something, we want to hear it.
How to Apply — Please Read
We're hiring based on how you think and how you work, not just your resume. Email marc@robinsonglazing.com with the subject line "Assistant PM – [Your Name]" and include:
- Your resume.
- An example of how you stay organized. A screenshot, spreadsheet, checklist, planner page, project tracker, or a short explanation of a system you built to keep something on track. It does not have to be construction related.
- An Excel example. Attach a spreadsheet you've built (school, work, or personal — sanitize anything confidential) or briefly describe the most useful spreadsheet you've ever put together and what it did.
- How you use AI tools. Tell us which tools you use and give one specific example of something you used AI to accomplish. Screenshots of a good prompt and result are welcome.
- Anything else that makes you a great candidate. Certifications, a project you're proud of, something you built or fixed, or just why you want this job.
Applications without these examples will not be reviewed. Take the time — this is the first test of the job.

Project Assistant Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project assistant in Florida?
Most project assistant roles in Florida are accessible with an associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, information technology, or a related field. Florida does not require a state-issued license for general project assistant work, but roles in construction often favor candidates familiar with Florida Building Code processes. Earning a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute or completing coursework through a Florida State University or University of Central Florida program strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire project assistants in Florida?
Employers hiring project assistants in Florida right now include Jobot, Garney Construction, and W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of large healthcare systems, defense contractors, and commercial construction firms means ongoing demand for project support roles at both the corporate and field levels.
Which Florida cities have the most project assistant jobs?
Tampa, Orlando, and Miami have the most project assistant openings in Florida. Miami's volume is driven by large-scale commercial development and healthcare expansion, while Orlando's tourism infrastructure and technology growth fuel consistent hiring, and Tampa's mix of financial services, healthcare systems, and defense contractors supports steady demand for project support staff.
Are there remote project assistant jobs in Florida?
Yes, though availability depends on the sector. About 12% of project assistant openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the role. IT and healthcare administration project assistants are most likely to find fully remote or hybrid arrangements, while construction and facilities-focused roles typically require on-site presence throughout the project lifecycle.
How can I get hired as a project assistant in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to administrative coordinator or project coordinator associate roles at large Florida employers such as AdventHealth, Florida Department of Transportation, or major commercial contractors, which regularly hire candidates without direct project experience. Internship programs through Florida universities and community colleges often place students directly with these employers. Building familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project or Procore and assembling a portfolio of organized work samples significantly strengthens applications for no-experience candidates.
Where can I find and apply to project assistant jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to project assistant jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match. No profile creation is required to see or apply to listings.
