Front Desk Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a front desk in Pennsylvania?
Most front desk roles in Pennsylvania require a high school diploma or equivalent, though positions in medical offices increasingly prefer candidates who have completed a medical administrative assistant program at a Pennsylvania community college such as Community College of Philadelphia or CCAC. No state-issued license is required for general front desk work, but medical front desk roles often expect familiarity with electronic health records and HIPAA compliance, which many Pennsylvania employers verify during hiring.
Which companies hire front desks in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring front desks in Pennsylvania right now include Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Penn Medicine, and Shaner Hotel, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's large healthcare networks, hotel groups, and corporate campuses in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro areas account for a significant share of consistent front desk openings statewide.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most front desk jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Lancaster have the most front desk openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense concentration of hospital systems, law firms, and corporate offices, while Pittsburgh's strength in healthcare, technology, and higher education drives demand there, and Allentown's growing logistics and healthcare sector anchors hiring in the Lehigh Valley.
Are there remote front desk jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Front desk work is by nature an on-site role built around greeting visitors, managing physical check-ins, and supporting in-person operations. About 1% of front desk openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and the positions that do allow remote work tend to be virtual receptionist or telephone-triage roles rather than traditional front desk positions.
How can I get hired as a front desk in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to healthcare systems or hotel groups that run structured onboarding for new hires, such as UPMC's administrative support pipeline or Marriott and Hilton properties throughout Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Adjacent roles like cashier, customer service representative, or medical records clerk are common stepping stones that Pennsylvania employers recognize. Completing a short medical administrative assistant certificate at a local community college gives candidates an edge for clinical front desk roles, even without prior office experience.
Where can I find and apply to front desk jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to front desk jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
