HR Business Partner Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hr business partner in Pennsylvania?
The most direct path is completing a bachelor's degree in human resources or business, then building several years of experience as an HR generalist or HR coordinator before moving into a business partner role. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license to work as an hr business partner, but earning an HRCI PHR or SPHR credential, or a SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation, is widely expected by Pennsylvania employers and meaningfully strengthens your candidacy at competitive organizations.
How much do HR business partners make in Pennsylvania?
HR business partners in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $133,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,940 for the lowest 10% to over $222,690 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hr business partners in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring hr business partners in Pennsylvania right now include Amazon, GSK, and Genesis HealthCare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large health systems, insurance companies, and corporate headquarters means demand is spread across both the Philadelphia metro and the Pittsburgh region, with consistent volume from organizations operating multiple sites across the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most hr business partner jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Exton consistently hold the most hr business partner openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, major health systems, and financial services firms, while Pittsburgh's concentration of university medical centers, technology companies, and regional banks drives steady demand there, and smaller hubs like the Lehigh Valley see openings tied to large distribution, manufacturing, and specialty health employers in that corridor.
Are there remote hr business partner jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many professional roles, because hr business partnering at the strategic level is largely advisory and communication-driven work that translates well to remote settings. About 54% of hr business partner openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have accepted distributed HR models since the pandemic. The portions of the role most likely to be fully remote are executive coaching, policy development, and talent planning, while employee relations work involving on-site investigations tends to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a hr business partner in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an HR coordinator or HR generalist role first, then building toward a business partner title as you take on advisory responsibilities. Large Pennsylvania employers such as UPMC, Penn Medicine, and Comcast run structured HR development programs that recruit candidates with limited experience into rotational or associate HR roles. Lateral moves from recruiting, benefits administration, or payroll are also common stepping stones, and holding a SHRM-CP credential or completing a HRCI-approved program signals readiness to Pennsylvania hiring managers even before you have a formal business partner title.
Where can I find and apply to hr business partner jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to hr business partner jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience level and target location, then apply directly to the employer through the listing without needing to create an account or sign up for anything.
