Business Consultant Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business consultant in Pennsylvania?
Business consulting in Pennsylvania requires no state-issued license, so the path runs through education and credentials rather than a licensing board. Most Pennsylvania employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, and many prefer an MBA for senior roles. Certifications such as the PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or a CPA strengthen candidacy significantly, particularly for consulting work tied to Pennsylvania's large healthcare and financial services sectors.
How much do business consultants make in Pennsylvania?
Business consultants in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $93,830 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,250 for the lowest 10% to over $161,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business consultants in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring business consultants in Pennsylvania right now include PNC Financial Services, CVS Health, and Penn Medicine, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's deep concentration of health systems, insurance carriers, and regional banks means consulting demand extends well beyond the national firms into large in-state institutions and mid-market companies.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most business consultant jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania have the most business consultant openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the largest volume through its concentration of financial services firms, health systems, and corporate headquarters, while Pittsburgh's technology and healthcare sectors fuel steady demand, and Harrisburg's role as the state capital generates consistent openings tied to government operations and public-sector advisory work.
Are there remote business consultant jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Business consulting is heavily analytical and client-advisory in nature, which makes it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 75% of business consultant openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely employers have accepted flexible work for this role. Strategy, process improvement, and data-focused engagements are the most commonly posted as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a business consultant in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an analyst or associate consultant role at one of the large firms with Pennsylvania offices, where structured onboarding programs bring in new graduates each year. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices of firms such as Deloitte, Accenture, and KPMG run formal analyst cohort programs. Candidates from adjacent roles in finance, operations, or project coordination transition regularly, and earning a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or passing the PMP exam gives a resume a concrete edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to business consultant jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to business consultant jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and beyond. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly to the employer without any intermediary step.
