Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mechanical engineer job in Denver?
Focus your search on Denver's aerospace and defense corridor, the energy sector clustered near downtown and the Tech Center, and the growing advanced manufacturing scene in the Lakewood and Englewood suburbs. Employers in these sectors value hands-on design experience with CAD tools, familiarity with thermal or fluid systems, and any background in regulated industries. Networking through Colorado's aerospace and energy professional communities gives candidates a measurable edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire mechanical engineers in Denver?
Employers hiring mechanical engineers in Denver right now include Jacobs, Blue Origin, and Affiliated Engineers, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Denver's hiring landscape skews toward aerospace primes and their suppliers, energy companies, and defense contractors with facilities along the Front Range, alongside a smaller but active set of cleantech and medical device firms.
Are there remote mechanical engineer jobs in Denver?
Yes, though remote options are limited by nature for this role since most mechanical engineering work involves physical systems, lab access, or on-site collaboration. About 57% of mechanical engineer openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, skewing toward analytical, simulation, and systems-integration roles. Design verification and project coordination positions at Denver's larger aerospace and energy employers are the most likely to offer a hybrid schedule.
How can I get a mechanical engineer job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is targeting co-op and new-grad programs at aerospace and defense contractors based along the Front Range, many of whom recruit directly from Colorado universities. Entry-level roles in manufacturing engineering, test engineering, and CAD drafting are the most accessible starting points locally. Completing a senior capstone project with an industry partner, earning an FE credential, and building familiarity with aerospace or energy design standards will strengthen your application with Denver employers specifically.
Which industries hire the most mechanical engineers in Denver?
The sectors hiring the most mechanical engineers in Denver are Telecommunications and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Denver's position as a hub for space and satellite systems, oil and gas infrastructure, and federal defense programs concentrated at nearby installations drives sustained mechanical engineering demand across all three sectors.
