Senior Level Media Relations Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level media relations manager job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have led media strategy independently, not just executed campaigns under direction. A strong portfolio of earned media placements, demonstrated experience managing agency or in-house teams, and relationships with journalists across national or trade outlets all signal readiness. Showing how your communications work influenced measurable business outcomes is what separates strong senior candidates from the rest.
Which companies hire senior level media relations managers?
Companies hiring senior level media relations managers right now include Logic, Emory Healthcare, and UBS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of large corporations with dedicated communications functions, PR agencies managing enterprise accounts, and mission-driven organizations that need experienced leaders to own their public narrative.
Are there remote senior level media relations manager jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer type and industry. About 0% of senior level media relations manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that much of the work, media outreach, strategy development, and stakeholder communication, can be done effectively from anywhere. On-site roles tend to be more common at organizations where executive access and in-person media coordination are priorities.
What makes a media relations manager role senior level?
Senior level media relations manager roles go beyond pitching and placement. At this stage, you own the communications strategy, define the editorial calendar, and are accountable for how the organization is perceived in the press. You manage relationships with senior journalists and editors, guide junior team members or external agency partners, and advise leadership on reputational risk. The work is less tactical and more directional.
Which industries hire the most senior level media relations managers?
Senior level media relations manager roles concentrate in Education, Manufacturing, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because they face sustained public scrutiny, regulatory attention, or competitive pressure that demands experienced communications leadership rather than a generalist approach.
