Who's Hiring

Mental Health Therapist Jobs in Pittsburgh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mental health therapist job in Pittsburgh?
The strongest entry point in Pittsburgh is targeting its large hospital systems and university-affiliated counseling centers in Oakland, along with the network of community mental health agencies operating in neighborhoods like Hazelwood, Homewood, and Carrick. Candidates with experience in trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, or adolescent mental health stand out in this market. Connecting with local professional associations and clinical supervisors already working in Pittsburgh facilities gives a measurable edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire mental health therapists in Pittsburgh?
Companies currently hiring mental health therapists in Pittsburgh include Transformations Care Network, Mood Health, and Ellie Mental Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Pittsburgh's hiring landscape is anchored by major academic medical centers, regional behavioral health networks, and nonprofits serving the city's diverse residential neighborhoods.
Are there remote mental health therapist jobs in Pittsburgh?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role, since direct clinical therapy generally requires in-person sessions while intake coordination, case management, and telehealth counseling can be done remotely. About 43% of mental health therapist openings tied to Pittsburgh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Telehealth-focused positions are most common among outpatient group practices and employee assistance program providers operating in the Pittsburgh metro.
How can I get a mental health therapist job in Pittsburgh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Pittsburgh is securing a practicum or supervised internship placement through one of the city's community mental health agencies or university training clinics, particularly those affiliated with institutions in Oakland or Squirrel Hill. Entry-level case manager and mental health worker roles at Allegheny County-contracted providers frequently serve as a foot in the door. Demonstrating bilingual ability or specialized training in crisis intervention makes candidates noticeably more competitive for these positions.
