Job Description:The System Administrator 2 will support a highly complex development and test infrastructure environment across network management, network architecture, systems engineering, network installation and maintenance, and information systems security engineering. The resource will configure, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, secure, and improve Windows/Linux systems, network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, hardware, software, and associated development and testing environments.About the Role:The position requires a senior infrastructure professional with 10+ years of system administration or closely related experience, including Windows and Linux network administration. The resource will work across LAN/WAN/CAN environments, routing and switching, telecommunications, RF systems, network security, configuration management, hardware/software lifecycle support, and development/test infrastructure. TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain development and test network infrastructure.
- Administer Windows and Linux systems and associated network environments.
- Consult and coordinate with external organizations to resolve network, server, system, and infrastructure issues.
- Identify and select IT products, tools, services, and infrastructure components.
- Design and evaluate network architectures and infrastructure solutions for complex technical problems.
- Develop and evaluate technical proposals for changes to facility networks.
- Perform high-level network and infrastructure design and define system/component performance requirements.
- Translate conceptual architectures into detailed technical specifications.
- Install and configure hardware and software components within development and test environments.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve infrastructure equipment.
- Perform network connectivity troubleshooting involving routing, switching, IP addressing, and related protocols.
- Manage LAN, WAN, CAN, telecommunications, and associated network components.
- Conduct site surveys for IT infrastructure installations.
- Validate infrastructure systems through testing and quality assurance activities.
- Analyze infrastructure failures and determine appropriate technical solutions.
- Monitor applications and systems within the IT environment.
- Perform hardware, software, firmware, and configuration upgrades throughout the system lifecycle.
- Maintain UPS network equipment and supporting infrastructure.
- Implement and sustain network security solutions including firewalls, encryption, antivirus, IDS/IPS, and related controls.
- Apply computer security principles to development and test infrastructure.
- Support Information Systems Security Engineering activities.
- Implement configuration management processes for system modifications, integrations, and deployments.
- Maintain systems inventory, equipment records, non-attributable systems matrices, and rack/elevation/room drawings.
- Plan and coordinate installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Repair and modify hardware components, including micro-soldering and trace repair, where required.
- Support hardware reverse-engineering efforts and infrastructure modifications.
- Research emerging technologies, tools, architectures, and trends applicable to mobile/RF development and testing.
- Maintain awareness of telecommunications technologies, protocols, standards, transmission, switching, and routing.
- Ensure infrastructure activities follow applicable safety protocols and operational procedures.
