Job Summary
The Senior Network and Systems Administrator designs, secures, and supports Beacon FCU’s network and server infrastructure across four branches and a Disaster Recovery Center. As the credit union shifts to a hosted core and hybrid cloud environment, you will manage both on-site and cloud systems to ensure high availability, security, and regulatory compliance. Serving as the lead technical security resource, you will handle endpoint protection and vulnerability management while collaborating with vendors and IT leadership to modernize and protect enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and manage LANs, WANs, VPNs, wireless networks, VLANs, IDS/IPS, firewalls, switches, and telephony systems across four branch locations and the DRC, with readiness to support future expansion.
• Administer mixed networking environment utilizing Cisco ASA/Firepower and MikroTik devices within the server/router stack, including firmware updates, configuration backups, and performance optimization.
• Monitor network, server, workstation, and telephony performance; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective solutions to ensure reliable accessibility across all locations.
• Maintain IP addressing schemes, configuration backups, and security credentials for servers, switches, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Support SD-WAN and cloud-connectivity initiatives as the credit union transitions to a hosted core environment and hybrid infrastructure.
• Administer Cisco Call Manager and Cisco Jabber for internal unified communications, including user provisioning, dial plan management, and system maintenance.
• Coordinate with VoIP service provider to manage SIP trunking, number porting, e911 configuration, and service troubleshooting.
• Maintain voice network connectivity, QoS policies, and integration between on-premises telephony and hosted services; support migration planning as the credit union evaluates future cloud-based communication solutions.

Server & Systems Administration:

• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain Windows Server operating systems and performance.
• Administer the virtualization platform (VMware vSphere), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, File/Print Services, and Remote Desktop Services.
• Assist in system deployments and upgrades; deploy regular system updates, security patches, and hotfixes using WSUS and scripting tools to maintain compliance and security.
• Manage Microsoft Office Suite, Exchange, SQL Server, and hybrid cloud services.
• Support the core banking platform in a hosted/hybrid configuration, ensuring secure connectivity, reliable performance, and integration with on-premises systems.

Security Operations & Compliance:

• Serve as the operational security administrator managing protection across all endpoints and servers, including policy configuration, threat monitoring, and incident response.
• Administer Cisco Firepower ASA intrusion detection/prevention capabilities; review security logs and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with third-party security firms to facilitate annual threat and vulnerability testing; perform vulnerability management, remediation, and patch coordination to address findings from scans and assessments.
• Enforce established security policies including least-privilege access, multi-factor authentication (MFA), network segmentation, and Zero Trust Architecture principles.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents including malware, viruses, ransomware, and other malicious attacks.
• Maintain security documentation, access control matrices, risk assessments, and audit evidence in preparation for NCUA IT examinations and FFIEC guidance compliance.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:

• Assist with disaster recovery testing and follow documented recovery procedures; maintain and test failover procedures for critical systems.
• Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response efforts as required.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in network and systems administration, preferably within a financial institution or credit union environment.
• Hands-on experience administering:

- Windows Server, Active Directory, core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy), Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server (2016+), and hybrid or cloud-connected environments.

- Cisco networking and security platforms (ASA, Firepower) for perimeter protection and externally facing infrastructure.

- Routers and switches, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) and enterprise backup solutions.

- Enterprise endpoint protection platforms, including policy management, threat remediation, and centralized console administration.

- Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Jabber, and VoIP/SIP trunking.

• Proficiency in network and server security principles, intrusion detection, vulnerability remediation, incident response, Zero Trust, perimeter protection, and hybrid cloud security models.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment managing multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with credit union products, services, operations and core banking platforms preferred.

Education:

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred. Will consider experience over education.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Security+, Cisco CCNA, MikroTik

MTCNA/MTCRE, Microsoft Azure/AWS fundamentals) preferred.
