Occupational Therapist Jobs in Wilmington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a occupational therapist job in Wilmington?
The strongest entry point in Wilmington is targeting hospital-affiliated outpatient clinics and inpatient rehab units, particularly those connected to the city's major health systems near the Riverfront and downtown corridors. Pediatric and school-based settings in the surrounding New Castle County districts also hire steadily. Candidates with hand therapy experience or pediatric certifications gain a clear edge in Wilmington's competitive outpatient market, where specialty caseloads are common.
Which companies hire occupational therapists in Wilmington?
Companies currently hiring occupational therapists in Wilmington include Cadia Healthcare, Discovery Therapy, and BAYADA Home Health Care, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wilmington's hiring landscape is anchored by large health systems, long-term care groups, and pediatric therapy practices serving the greater New Castle County area.
Are there remote occupational therapist jobs in Wilmington?
Yes, though occupational therapy is primarily a hands-on clinical role, so fully remote positions are rare. About 25% of occupational therapist openings tied to Wilmington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in telehealth consultation, care coordination, and utilization review roles. Insurers and managed care organizations operating in Wilmington's health corridor tend to post the most remote-eligible positions.
How can I get a occupational therapist job in Wilmington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Wilmington is through fieldwork placements at skilled nursing facilities or pediatric clinics in the New Castle County area, many of which convert strong fieldwork students into new-grad hires. Rehab therapy staffing agencies serving Wilmington-area facilities regularly place entry-level OTs on contract-to-hire arrangements. Focusing applications on long-term care settings and school districts allows newer clinicians to build caseload experience before moving into competitive hospital or outpatient roles.
Which industries hire the most occupational therapists in Wilmington?
Most occupational therapist openings in Wilmington sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wilmington's concentration of hospital networks, rehabilitative care facilities, and pediatric health providers across the Brandywine Valley makes those sectors the primary drivers of local occupational therapist demand.
