As a Sub Same Day (SSD) Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects focused on site configurations, virtual readiness, and end-to-end testing for new facility launches, retrofits, and expansions. You are a customer-obsessed leader who will play an integral part in ensuring that all system configurations and physical installations are validated and ready for go-live across the SSD network. Strong technical aptitude, stakeholder management, and the ability to drive results independently in ambiguous environments will be essential.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end testing and validation of site configurations across new launches and retrofits, ensuring all virtual and physical systems are ready for operations prior to go-live.
- Partner with internal teams (Launch, IT, Startup, Engineering, Operations) and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
- Proactively assess configuration readiness, identify gaps or risks in advance of deployment timelines, and drive solutions to mitigate impact.
- Lead and coordinate execution efforts to validate that systems, equipment, and automated processes function per established standards and guidelines.
- Monitor and report on testing progress including significant milestones and conditions which would affect site launch cost or schedule.
- Solve ambiguous problems across multiple configurations and systems; develop scalable processes and mechanisms that improve readiness and reduce defects.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple organizations to ensure alignment and timely handover.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that optimize the team's efficiency, improve site readiness visibility, and raise the quality bar for launches.
- Travel up to 80% domestically; travel intensity can be variable and consist of up to three weeks in a row, including weekends.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and field execution through launch readiness and go-live phases

- 3+ years of professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience with retrofits, launches, or automation deployments

Operations Engineer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations engineer job in Atlanta?
Focus your search on Atlanta's three strongest hiring pockets: the logistics and supply chain firms clustered near Hartsfield-Jackson, the manufacturing operations along the I-20 and I-85 corridors, and the enterprise tech and managed services companies headquartered in Midtown and Buckhead. Candidates who combine process improvement credentials, such as Six Sigma or Lean certification, with hands-on experience in high-throughput environments stand out most with Atlanta employers.
Which companies hire operations engineers in Atlanta?
Employers hiring operations engineers in Atlanta right now include Inspire Brands, Aprio, and OneTrust, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major logistics operators, and fast-growing fintech and healthtech firms means openings appear across both large enterprises and mid-size companies with significant operational footprints in the region.
Are there remote operations engineer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type. Hands-on plant and facilities operations positions are almost always on-site, while systems, process, and IT operations roles are far more likely to offer flexibility. About 83% of operations engineer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the remote-eligible share concentrated in technology operations and data center management roles.
How can I get a operations engineer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is targeting coordinator or operations analyst roles at the city's logistics, distribution, and supply chain companies, which regularly hire candidates with strong analytical skills and a relevant bachelor's degree even without direct engineering experience. Georgia Tech co-op and internship alumni have a measurable advantage with employers in the Midtown and Perimeter tech corridor. Lateral moves from project coordination or industrial technician roles are also common stepping stones for breaking into operations engineering locally.
Which industries hire the most operations engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta operations engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's position as a major logistics hub, combined with its growing presence in financial technology and healthcare services, keeps consistent demand for operations engineers who can manage complex, high-volume workflows across those sectors.
