Operations Manager Jobs in Detroit: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations manager job in Detroit?
Target Detroit's heaviest hiring sectors: automotive and mobility supply chain, healthcare network operations, and third-party logistics centered near the I-75 and I-94 corridors. Candidates who stand out here typically bring direct experience managing unionized or high-volume hourly workforces, familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma, and knowledge of Detroit's distribution and warehouse infrastructure around Wayne County and the Downriver area.
Which companies hire operations managers in Detroit?
Employers hiring operations managers in Detroit right now include Marriott International, WM, and DHL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Detroit's hiring base skews heavily toward large automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, regional health systems, and national logistics firms with Midwest distribution hubs in the metro area.
Are there remote operations manager jobs in Detroit?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for this role since most operations manager positions require on-site oversight of facilities, staff, or production lines. About 50% of operations manager openings tied to Detroit are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in corporate or shared-services functions rather than plant or warehouse management.
How can I get a operations manager job in Detroit with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Detroit is moving up from a shift supervisor, production lead, or logistics coordinator role, particularly inside automotive Tier 1 suppliers or regional distribution centers in Wayne and Oakland counties. Detroit's manufacturing base and large hospital networks regularly hire assistant operations managers and operations coordinators as direct steppingstones, and candidates who add lean process or supply chain credentials while in those roles move faster.
Which industries hire the most operations managers in Detroit?
Most operations manager openings in Detroit sit in Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Detroit's economy is anchored by automotive production and its supplier ecosystem, a large regional healthcare sector, and a growing logistics and fulfillment presence, all of which require hands-on operations management at scale.
