BeaconFire is based in Central NJ, specializing in Software Development, Web Development, and Business Intelligence; looking for a strong agentic AI developer who can build and productionize Vertex AI–based RAG systems (Vertex AI Search / Vertex AI RAG patterns), design reliable tool-using agents, and work comfortably with vector databases and graph databases.
About the Role
You’ll own end-to-end delivery: ingestion, retrieval, agent orchestration, evaluation, and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to design and develop high quality Web applications using Python, Flask, Django, and related technologies.
- Write clean and efficient code, and ensure code maintainability and reusability.
- Design and implement RAG pipelines on Google Cloud / Vertex AI (chunking, embeddings, indexing, retrieval, reranking, grounding).
- Build agentic workflows (tool use, planning, reflection/guardrails, structured outputs) using Python-first frameworks.
- Perform code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency.
- Conduct testing to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for web applications.
- Participate in project planning, estimation, and prioritization.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies for Python development.
- Define and run evaluation (retrieval metrics, answer quality, hallucination/grounding checks), and improve system quality iteratively.
- Ship to production: APIs, monitoring/observability, cost/performance optimization, CI/CD, and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Experience in software development in Python3.
- Decent understanding of the software development/testing life cycle.
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc).
- Experience with version control tools, such as Git.
- Experience building RAG solutions (hybrid search, reranking, chunking strategies, embeddings, prompt + schema design).
- Familiar with at least one agentic framework (e.g., LangGraph/LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen) and tool/function calling patterns.
- Solid knowledge of vector search concepts and at least one vector DB in production.
- Strong engineering practices: code reviews, testing, telemetry, secure-by-design, reliability mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 1+ year professional experience in Python web application development with either Flask or Django.
- Experience in RESTful API development in Python.
- Understanding of Python web application frameworks such as Flask or Django.
- Experience with Cloud services, such as AWS.
- Experience with Vertex AI and GCP fundamentals (IAM, logging/monitoring, CloudRun/GKE, storage).
- Knowledge graphs for RAG (entity linking, graph traversal + retrieval fusion).
- Streaming/messaging (Pub/Sub, Kafka), document pipelines (Document AI), and multilingual retrieval.
- Experience with evaluation tooling (RAGAS, TruLens, custom eval harnesses), prompt/version management.
- Frontend integration (basic React/Next.js) or platform enablement (internal developer tooling).

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship in Cloud AI Architect
Target cloud-native companies with established AI practices
Companies already running production AI workloads on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud are far more likely to need and sponsor Cloud AI Architects. Their existing infrastructure investment makes immigration costs easier to justify than building a new practice from scratch.
Certify on the major cloud platforms before applying
AWS Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, and Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications signal readiness to employers. These credentials are concrete proof of platform fluency and shift conversations away from visa status toward technical capability.
Frame your OPT timeline around the H-1B lottery calendar
H-1B registration opens in March each year. If your OPT starts before October, you may bridge the gap using your STEM extension. Knowing this timeline helps you time your job search and give employers confidence about continuity.
Demonstrate experience with MLOps and cloud cost optimization
Employers sponsoring Cloud AI Architects want measurable business impact, not just technical knowledge. Quantify how you reduced model inference costs, improved deployment pipelines, or cut cloud spend. These results make sponsorship easier to justify internally.
Prioritize employers with existing immigration infrastructure
Mid-to-large technology firms, consulting companies, and cloud service providers typically have in-house immigration counsel and established sponsorship workflows. Smaller startups may want to sponsor but lack the process to execute it reliably on your OPT timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to find roles filtered for OPT sponsorship
Searching broadly wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces Cloud AI Architect roles from employers with a demonstrated history of sponsoring international candidates, so your applications focus where your visa status is least likely to be a barrier.
Cloud AI Architect OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cloud AI Architect role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Most Cloud AI Architect positions qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension because they fall under CIP codes tied to computer science, electrical engineering, or information technology. The determining factor is your degree field, not the job title itself. Confirm your degree CIP code with your DSO before assuming eligibility, since a business or non-STEM degree would not qualify even if the job is technical.
How do I find Cloud AI Architect jobs that sponsor OPT students?
The most efficient approach is to focus your search on employers with a documented history of sponsoring international candidates in technical roles. Migrate Mate curates Cloud AI Architect listings from employers who actively hire OPT students, filtering out companies that don't sponsor so you're not wasting applications. Separately, reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data shows which employers have filed for cloud and AI architecture roles in the past.
What happens if my OPT expires before my H-1B is approved?
If your employer files your H-1B petition before your OPT expires and you have a timely filed STEM extension, you're protected by cap-gap status through September 30 of that year. Cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization if your OPT or STEM extension would otherwise expire between April 1 and September 30. Confirm the exact dates with your DSO, since a single missed filing deadline can break this protection.
Are Cloud AI Architect roles considered specialty occupations for H-1B purposes?
Cloud AI Architect roles generally meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard because they typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline. The role must be defined in a way that ties the degree requirement to the job duties. Generic job descriptions that accept any degree field can create problems during USCIS adjudication, so the employer's job posting language matters.
Can I start a Cloud AI Architect job before my EAD card arrives?
No. You cannot begin working until you have your physical EAD card in hand and your OPT start date has passed. USCIS processing for OPT EADs currently runs 3 to 5 months, so file as early as your school allows, which is typically up to 90 days before your program end date. Starting work without a valid EAD puts your immigration status at risk and can affect future visa applications.
