JOB OVERVIEW:
We’re looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented Creative Designer to support the visual storytelling of THE•TEAM’s women’s advisory practice, The Collective. This role will be responsible for bringing The Collective’s cross-disciplinary work across sports and marketing to life through compelling, on-brand design. If you’re passionate about advancing women in sports, music and entertainment, this is a strong opportunity to make an impact.
These channels represent key areas of THE•TEAM so you’ll be expected to develop a strong understanding of THE•TEAM brand, talent roster, and partners. You’ll collaborate closely with social, marketing, and talent teams to create visually engaging content that communicates brand voice and elevates The Collective’s presence across platforms.
A major focus of this role will be translating The Collective’s research and insights into visually compelling, easy-to-digest creative - ranging from social graphics and infographics to motion and short-form video assets. THE•TEAM works in a fast-paced environment, so the ideal candidate is someone who can execute quickly without sacrificing quality, thrives in a collaborative setting, and is equally comfortable working independently when needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Creative Design & Execution
- Design high-quality, on-brand creative across social, digital, and marketing channels.
- Develop graphics, templates, and visual systems that ensure consistency across The Collective’s platforms.
- Execute a range of assets including social posts, carousels, and marketing collateral.
- Support motion design and short-form video editing as needed.
- Translate research, data, and insights into visually compelling, easy-to-digest content (infographics, reports, social assets).
- Collaborate with internal teams to bring research narratives to life through design.
- Balance creativity with clarity to ensure information is both engaging and accessible.
- Maintain and evolve The Collective’s visual identity across all touchpoints.
- Partner closely with social, marketing, and talent teams to align creative with strategic goals.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to take and apply feedback while upholding a high standard of design.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay organized using project management tools (e.g., Asana) and maintain clear communication across teams.
- Continuously explore design trends, tools, and cultural moments to keep creative fresh and relevant.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 2+ years of experience in graphic design, preferably within an agency, brand, or sports/entertainment environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing digital, social, and brand design work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with motion tools (After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Experience designing for social platforms, with an understanding of best practices across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels.
- Ability to translate data and research into visually compelling, easy-to-understand graphics and layouts.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, color, and visual storytelling.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality execution.
- High standard of excellence, with the flexibility to work nontraditional hours when needed and anticipate challenges with thoughtful communication.
- Awareness of cultural trends across sports, music, and entertainment.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Keynote, Slack, and Box.
Base salary range: $61-82K, plus bonus potential if applicable for role. Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc. The salary range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship as a Content Designer
Lead with your UX writing portfolio
Content Designers are evaluated almost entirely on portfolio work. Showcase error messages, onboarding flows, and microcopy samples. Employers need to see your writing in product context, not just writing samples from academic or editorial backgrounds.
Target tech companies with dedicated content design teams
Large product companies like Google, Meta, and Salesforce have established content design practices and structured OPT sponsorship workflows. Smaller startups may have the role but lack the immigration infrastructure to process your authorization paperwork efficiently.
Clarify your OPT timeline upfront in applications
Content Designer hiring cycles can run eight to twelve weeks. If your OPT start date or expiration falls within that window, flag it early. Hiring managers appreciate transparency and it avoids last-minute complications around your employment start date.
Align your degree field to the role description
OPT requires your job to be directly related to your degree. Communication, linguistics, HCI, and English degrees map cleanly to Content Designer roles. If your degree is adjacent, document the connection clearly before your employer submits any authorization paperwork.
Pursue STEM OPT if your degree qualifies
Degrees in human-computer interaction, information science, or cognitive science often qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. That extension is frequently the deciding factor for employers willing to invest in your long-term H-1B visa sponsorship after OPT ends.
Ask specifically about H-1B sponsorship history during interviews
Content Designer roles are new enough at many companies that sponsorship history is inconsistent. Ask whether the company has sponsored H-1B petitions for this specific role, not just for engineers. The answer tells you how realistic your long-term path is.
Content Designer OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Content Designer job qualify for OPT work authorization?
Yes, Content Designer roles generally qualify for OPT as long as the work is directly related to your degree. Degrees in communication, UX design, English, linguistics, or human-computer interaction support a clear connection. Your employer does not file a petition for OPT, but USCIS requires the employment to fall within your degree field, so document that connection before you start.
Can a Content Designer role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not your job title. If your degree is in human-computer interaction, information science, cognitive science, or a related STEM-designated field, you may qualify for the 24-month extension. Content Designer roles supported by a communication or English degree typically do not qualify. Check the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List and confirm with your DSO before assuming eligibility.
Where can I find Content Designer jobs that are open to OPT students?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT and international students and filters for roles where employers are open to sponsoring or working with work-authorized candidates. Searching there saves time compared to filtering through general job listings where OPT eligibility is rarely disclosed upfront. Browse Content Designer listings on Migrate Mate to find roles matched to your authorization status.
Do Content Designer employers typically sponsor H-1B visas after OPT?
Some do, but it varies significantly. Large technology companies with established content design teams, such as those in enterprise software or consumer platforms, are more likely to have H-1B sponsorship infrastructure in place. Smaller companies or agencies may not have sponsored the role before. Ask directly during the interview process whether the company has sponsored H-1B petitions for content or UX roles specifically.
What happens to my OPT authorization if I switch from a Content Designer role to a different job?
Your OPT remains valid as long as your new job is also directly related to your degree. Switching from Content Designer to a role in product management or marketing may or may not qualify depending on your degree field. Report any employer or job change to your DSO within ten days, as SEVIS must reflect your current employment. Gaps longer than 90 cumulative days of unemployment can jeopardize your OPT status.
