About Sandstone
Sandstone is on a mission to elevate in-house legal from a support function into a true strategic partner. From day one, we’ve been clear about what we are—and are not. We are not replacing in-house legal teams. We are building a platform that amplifies them.
Our platform enables modern legal teams to move at the speed of AI, deliver better outcomes, and create measurable business value. We unify legal data, power end-to-end workflows, and organize business context within the tools teams already use. Sandstone is the home for AI-native legal departments.
Today, Sandstone is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and fast-growing innovators alike. We ship quickly, iterate relentlessly, and scale with intention.
When you join Sandstone, you become part of a team that believes deeply in the compounding power of collaboration, rigorous problem-solving, and obsessive attention to detail. Our engineering team is elite, our lawyers ship code every day, and we are dedicated to building the most delightful product an in-house lawyer opens in the morning—and closes at the end of the day.
The Role
Most internships show you how companies operate. This one puts you inside the work of building one.
Sandstone is hiring a small group of summer interns to work directly with our team across Product, Legal, Operations, and Growth. Instead of shadowing meetings or working on hypothetical projects, interns take ownership of real initiatives that impact how our product is built, how we serve customers, and how we scale the company.
You will work closely with founders and operators who are solving real problems in real time. That means learning how decisions get made, how products evolve, and how systems are built when the path forward is not always obvious.
By the end of the program, interns leave with a clear understanding of how an early-stage technology company actually operates, along with experience contributing to meaningful work inside a fast-moving environment.
What You’ll Work On
High-impact projects tied directly to company priorities. This could include supporting product development initiatives, analyzing operational workflows, researching legal or regulatory frameworks, or contributing to growth and go-to-market initiatives.
Research and analysis to help teams better understand markets, customers, and product opportunities.
Building internal systems and documentation that help teams move faster as the company scales.
Cross-functional collaboration with members of Product, Legal, Operations, and Growth to understand how these functions work together inside an enterprise software company.
What We Look For
- Curiosity about how systems work and why companies make the decisions they do.
- A bias toward action and comfort operating in environments where structure is still evolving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to organize ideas clearly in writing and conversation.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to break down problems into practical solutions.
- Interest in startups, technology, and how products are brought to market.
Program Details
The Sandstone Summer Internship runs approximately 10–12 weeks. Interns work closely with senior team members and receive regular feedback throughout the program.
At the end of the internship, each intern will present the projects they worked on and the impact of their contributions.
This program is designed for students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience inside a fast-growing technology company and exposure to how different functions come together to build products that solve real problems.
If you’re interested in working closely with builders, learning quickly, and contributing to meaningful work, we’d love to hear from you. Return offers will be considered based on performance throughout the internship period.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Internship
Track your OPT employment dates precisely
DSOs need accurate start and end dates for internships on your SEVIS record. Report every position change promptly. Gaps longer than 90 days on pre-completion OPT or 150 days on standard OPT can jeopardize your status.
Get the internship offer in writing before reporting to your DSO
Your DSO will update your SEVIS record based on your employer's name, job title, and start date. Having a written offer letter prevents errors and gives you documentation if your status is ever questioned.
Clarify whether the internship counts as paid or unpaid
Unpaid internships are permitted on OPT only if they meet Department of Labor criteria and are genuinely related to your degree. Confirm the arrangement with your DSO before starting to avoid unintentional OPT violations.
Use STEM OPT extension eligibility as a filter
If your degree qualifies for a 24-month STEM extension, prioritize internships at E-Verify employers. Landing a STEM-qualifying internship now can position you for a longer authorized work period after your initial OPT ends.
Apply early relative to your OPT start date
OPT authorization can take 3 to 5 months to process after your DSO submits the recommendation. Start applying for internships 4 to 6 months before your intended start date so your EAD arrives before you need to begin.

Can I do multiple internships simultaneously on OPT?
Yes. OPT permits concurrent employment, meaning you can hold more than one internship at the same time. Each position must independently qualify as directly related to your degree field. Report all employers to your DSO and ensure your total hours comply with your OPT type: up to 20 hours per week combined on part-time OPT, or up to 40 hours on full-time OPT.
Does an unpaid internship count toward my OPT unemployment limit?
Yes. An unpaid internship that qualifies as legitimate OPT employment counts as authorized work and stops your unemployment clock. However, it must meet the Department of Labor's criteria for unpaid training and be directly tied to your degree. If the internship doesn't qualify, those weeks still count against your 90-day unemployment limit.
Where can I find internships that are open to OPT students?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters opportunities by work authorization compatibility. Browsing Migrate Mate lets you focus on employers who have already indicated openness to hiring OPT workers, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening listings that exclude international students.
Can I convert an internship into full-time employment on OPT?
Yes, and this is one of the most common OPT pathways. If the employer offers you a full-time role before your OPT expires, you can transition directly without changing your authorization. If the full-time role qualifies for H-1B sponsorship, the internship period also gives the employer time to assess your fit before committing to a petition.
What happens to my OPT if my internship ends early?
Your OPT authorization remains valid even if the internship ends before the date on your EAD. You're permitted to be unemployed for up to 90 days on standard OPT without losing status. Report the end date to your DSO immediately and begin searching for a new qualifying position. Exceeding the unemployment limit puts your F-1 status at risk.
