Entry Level Orthopaedic Surgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level orthopaedic surgeon job?
Employers hiring at the entry level prioritize residency completion, hands-on surgical volume, and letters of recommendation from attending surgeons. Candidates who can demonstrate competency in high-demand procedures such as joint replacement or fracture repair gain an edge. Completing a fellowship is optional at this stage but signals specialization. Networking through professional societies and applying early in the match cycle also improves outcomes.
Which companies hire entry level orthopaedic surgeons?
Companies hiring entry level orthopaedic surgeons right now include Indiana University Health, SIU Medicine, and UNC Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers health systems, multi-specialty group practices, and hospital-employed physician programs that recruit new physicians directly out of residency or fellowship training.
Are there remote entry level orthopaedic surgeon jobs?
Yes, though fully remote roles are rare in this surgical specialty. About 0% of entry level orthopaedic surgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth consultations, pre-operative or post-operative follow-up visits, or administrative and teaching responsibilities rather than hands-on surgical work.
Are these new grad orthopaedic surgeon jobs?
Yes. The listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior orthopaedic surgeon roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates with zero to two years of post-residency experience, accepts internship or rotation hours in place of independent practice history, or explicitly states it will consider newly board-eligible physicians applying for their first attending position.
Which industries hire the most entry level orthopaedic surgeons?
Entry Level orthopaedic surgeon roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they operate high patient volumes, maintain employed-physician models, and have ongoing demand for musculoskeletal specialists to replace retiring surgeons or expand existing orthopaedic service lines.
