Sturgeon Electric has two divisions, offering both powerline construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making it a full-service electrical provider.
Sturgeon Electric’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. We also offer design-build and pre-construction services and has in-house pre-fabrication and AutoCAD capabilities.
Essential Functions
- Develop and execute commissioning and startup strategies aligned with project schedules
- Lead electrical QA/QC programs, inspections, and system turnover processes
- Coordinate with engineering teams, owners, and third-party commissioning agents
- Manage vendors for critical equipment (switchgear, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, etc.)
- Oversee startup, energization, and functional testing of electrical systems
- Lead integrated systems testing (IST), including failure mode and redundancy validation
- Monitor installation quality and lead pre-functional inspections
- Manage commissioning documentation, reporting, and final turnover packages
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA, ESAFE and industry codes
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commissioning-related activities
- Identify risks, drive issue resolution, and maintain project schedule alignment

- Zero safety incidents during commissioning activities
- On-time completion of commissioning milestones
- Minimal punch list items at turnover
- Successful integrated systems testing with no critical failures
- Full compliance with client performance and reliability standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards
- Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical construction, commissioning or IST (Integrated System Testing)
- 7+ years of experience with mission-critical or data center projects required
- Strong knowledge of power distribution and backup systems (UPS, generators)
- Comprehensive expertise in data center reliability and redundancy solutions, including UPS systems, backup generation, power distribution, cooling infrastructure and business continuity strategies
- 7+ years of experience with BMS, EPMS, and SCADA platforms
- Comprehensive expertise in NETA testing standards and commissioning best practices
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent combination of education and training considered in lieu of degree
- Preferred certifications
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
- NETA Level III or IV
- OSHA 30/70 and NFPA 70E
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong knowledge of power distribution and backup systems (UPS, generators)
- Demonstrated expertise in mission-critical infrastructure including redundancy architectures, power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems and cooling equipment required to maintain continuous operations
- Extensive knowledge of construction markets and business sector
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead a team in highly professional proposals and presentations
- Ability to establish departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization
- Ability to build collaborative relationships
