Pediatric Physical Therapist Jobs in Portland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a pediatric physical therapist job in Portland?
The strongest path into Portland's pediatric PT market runs through its children's hospital networks, school-based therapy programs, and the cluster of outpatient pediatric clinics in the Southwest Portland and Beaverton corridors. Candidates with early intervention experience or a specialty in sensory processing disorders tend to stand out locally. Connecting with Portland-area pediatric therapy practice groups and school district therapy coordinators can open doors faster than general applications.
Which companies hire pediatric physical therapists in Portland?
Companies currently hiring pediatric physical therapists in Portland include Oregon Health & Science University, Legacy Health, and Shriners Children's, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Portland's hiring mix tends to skew toward children's health systems, community health centers, and therapy-focused private practices serving the metro's growing family-age population.
Are there remote pediatric physical therapist jobs in Portland?
Remote work is uncommon for pediatric physical therapists because the role is fundamentally hands-on. About 0% of pediatric physical therapist openings tied to Portland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth consultations, care coordination, or documentation-heavy administrative roles rather than direct patient treatment.
How can I get a pediatric physical therapist job in Portland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Portland is a clinical rotation or volunteer placement at one of the area's pediatric outpatient clinics or school district therapy programs, which regularly bring on new graduates and PT assistants. Early intervention programs funded through Oregon's Early Childhood Services also hire candidates with limited clinical hours. Bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish speakers, have a noticeable advantage in Portland's diverse west-side communities.
Which industries hire the most pediatric physical therapists in Portland?
Most pediatric physical therapist openings in Portland sit in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Agriculture & Farming, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Portland's strong investment in children's healthcare infrastructure and its large public school system make those sectors the steadiest sources of local demand.
