Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a pharmacy technician job in Memphis?
Start by targeting Memphis's three strongest hiring pockets: the major health systems anchored in the Medical District, the retail pharmacy chains concentrated in East Memphis and Cordova, and the mail-order and specialty pharmacy operations that have expanded along the I-40 corridor. Candidates who hold a PTCB or NHA certification and have some retail or hospital exposure consistently move faster through hiring in this market.
Which companies hire pharmacy technicians in Memphis?
Companies currently hiring pharmacy technicians in Memphis include Walgreens, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, and Regional One Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis draws a mix of large regional health systems, national retail chains with heavy local footprints, and a growing number of specialty and compounding pharmacies serving the area's dense medical community.
Are there remote pharmacy technician jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though they are uncommon since most pharmacy technician work requires hands-on dispensing or in-person patient interaction. About 0% of pharmacy technician openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with those roles concentrated in prior authorization, insurance verification, and telepharmacy coordination rather than traditional dispensing.
How can I get a pharmacy technician job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is through retail pharmacy chains in East Memphis, Germantown, and Cordova, which regularly hire trainees and support on-the-job certification. Large hospital systems in the Medical District also bring on entry-level technicians who rotate through inpatient and outpatient dispensing. Completing a PTCB-recognized training program at a local community college before applying gives candidates a clear edge over unlicensed competition.
Which industries hire the most pharmacy technicians in Memphis?
The sectors hiring the most pharmacy technicians in Memphis are Retail, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Automotive, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's large hospital network, strong retail pharmacy presence, and growing specialty pharmacy sector all contribute to consistent local demand across these industries.
