Entry Level Platform Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level platform engineer job?
Entry level platform engineer roles reward candidates who can demonstrate hands-on work with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, or containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, even through personal projects or internships. Employers at this level look for familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, a working knowledge of at least one scripting language, and the ability to communicate clearly about systems design. A public GitHub repository with real deployments will consistently outperform a blank resume.
Which companies hire entry level platform engineers?
Companies hiring entry level platform engineers right now include Feedzai, Amazon Web Services, and Notion, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Both large technology firms and growth-stage startups actively recruit at this level, particularly those scaling their cloud infrastructure or modernizing legacy deployment pipelines.
Are there remote entry level platform engineer jobs?
Yes, though the share of fully remote postings varies by employer. About 43% of entry level platform engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting strong demand from distributed engineering teams. Hybrid roles are common at larger organizations, while fully remote positions tend to appear more often at cloud-native startups and software companies.
Are these new grad platform engineer jobs?
Yes, the openings listed here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior platform engineer roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or academic project work in place of full-time history, and does not require prior production ownership. Look for postings that mention internships, bootcamp graduates, or portfolio submissions as qualifying experience.
Which industries hire the most entry level platform engineers?
Entry Level platform engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because their teams are actively building or scaling cloud platforms, requiring additional engineers who can own tooling and automation work from an early career stage.
