Mid Level Postdoctoral Researcher Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level postdoctoral researcher job?
Position your existing work around independent contributions: grants you led or co-led, publications where you held primary authorship, and techniques you introduced to your lab. Applications that highlight ownership of a research question from design through publication, along with any mentorship of students or junior researchers, signal readiness for mid level roles. Tailor your research statement to each position's focus area.
Which companies hire mid level postdoctoral researchers?
Companies hiring mid level postdoctoral researchers right now include RTI International, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Rutgers University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers research universities, academic medical centers, national laboratories, and life sciences companies seeking researchers with demonstrated independent output.
Are there remote mid level postdoctoral researcher jobs?
Yes, though most postdoctoral research positions require on-site lab or clinical access. About 0% of mid level postdoctoral researcher openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles tend to concentrate in computational biology, bioinformatics, data-driven social science, and similar fields where the core work does not require physical lab infrastructure.
How do I move up to a mid level postdoctoral researcher role?
Getting to mid level means building a record of independent scientific contribution over your first years in research. That involves developing a focused area of expertise, taking ownership of at least one project from hypothesis through dissemination, and showing you can operate without step-by-step guidance. Mentoring rotation students or undergraduates and securing any co-investigator or fellowship credits accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level postdoctoral researchers?
Mid Level postdoctoral researcher roles concentrate in Education and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because they depend on researchers who can advance ongoing programs independently, produce publishable or patent-ready results, and bridge the gap between foundational discovery and applied outcomes.
