Primary Care Physician Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a primary care physician job in Boston?
Focus your search on the Longwood Medical Area, where academic medical centers, affiliated faculty practices, and research hospitals cluster, and on community health centers in neighborhoods like Roxbury, Dorchester, and East Boston that serve federally qualified health center populations. Candidates with board certification in family medicine or internal medicine, experience in underserved populations, and bilingual capabilities hold a clear edge in Boston's diverse urban market.
Which companies hire primary care physicians in Boston?
Boston primary care physician roles are posted by Carbon Health, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's hiring market is dominated by large academic health systems with affiliated ambulatory networks and independent community health centers serving the city's multilingual neighborhoods.
Are there remote primary care physician jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for primary care physicians since the role is fundamentally hands-on and patient-facing. About 0% of primary care physician openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting a small share of telehealth-only or hybrid panel management roles. In Boston, telehealth positions are most common within large health systems that run dedicated virtual care programs.
How can I get a primary care physician job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for early-career physicians in Boston is through residency-to-employment pipelines at the city's teaching hospitals, many of which hire their own residents into attending roles after graduation. Federally qualified health centers and community health centers in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Chelsea frequently recruit new attendings and offer loan repayment incentives that make them especially accessible for physicians without an established panel.
