ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of Process Engineer are the following - but not limited to:
- Perform duties as an onsite Process Engineer within a process plant environment.
- Define the project scope through discussions with the customer and clarify scope-related queries to ensure proper understanding by the offshore team.
- Develop and finalize feasibility studies and conceptual engineering, including proposed system or equipment layouts and a high-level implementation plan.
- Gather field data and coordinate with the customer to obtain all necessary inputs required to complete the engineering design.
- Liaise with vendors and construction teams to obtain technical information essential for design completion.
- Coordinate with offshore engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
- Participate in and support design review meetings with customers and construction teams to obtain required approvals.
- Take part in contractor site walks and support equipment commissioning and start-up activities.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and overall project review meetings.
- Review and approve process safety studies and related documentation.
- Prepare and review project execution plans to ensure effective project delivery.
- Develop cost estimates for project execution.
- Provide engineering support to plant engineering and operations teams as required.
- Support construction activities, Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and start-up phases.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working as a Process Engineer in industrial plant environments such as Chemical, Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Fine & Specialty Chemicals, and Food & Beverages industries.
- Strong ability to independently prepare and interpret Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), perform mass and energy balance calculations, and carry out hydraulic calculations without supervision.
- Solid understanding of core chemical engineering fundamentals, including heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mass transfer, and solids handling.
- Proven capability to specify and select process plant equipment with hands-on experience aligned to project requirements.
- Ability to independently specify and size pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, and other process equipment.
- Experience in the design of utility systems for chemical process industries.
- Experience in process safety management, including sizing and selection of safety devices.
- Familiarity with process simulation and hydraulic software such as AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, or similar engineering tools will be a plus.
