Overview
Small businesses fuel the global economy. In the US alone, they employ 60% of the workforce and create 80% of new jobs. Yet the odds are stacked against them: one in two fails within five years, and most of those failures come down to cash flow — balancing inflows and outflows, chasing late customer payments, funding growth, and making payroll, all while hoping there's enough left over for profit or a rainy day.
At QuickBooks, we aren't just building software. We're trying to increase the survival rate of entrepreneurship globally, and we're building the operating system that lets businesses get paid faster, access capital, and manage their own financial destiny.
QuickBooks Capital is looking for a Staff Product Designer to work across our lending products — term loans, lines of credit, marketplace, revenue-based financing, and the new products we're building — and the access points that surface them across QuickBooks. The ambition is bigger than a loan application. It's a business asking "can I cover this bill?" and QuickBooks answering: pay it now with your line of credit, repay it from next week's invoice, and come out ahead on late fees. Credit as a decision the product helps make, not a product the customer has to go find.
This is a data and experiment driven team. Most of what we ship is tested, and the work moves quickly. We want a designer who is comfortable reading experiment results and funnel data, who can make a call before the numbers are conclusive, and who pushes for research when the data can't answer the question.
At Intuit, we're intentionally building AI into how we define, build, and ship products — and we're committed to equipping our teams to work at the forefront of it. This role works both sides of that. You'll use AI in your own practice to prototype faster and go deeper on customer insight. You'll also design AI-native lending experiences, including agent-driven surfaces and recommendations inside Intuit Assist, where the customer needs to understand why they're being shown an offer before they'll act on it.
Responsibilities
Design the work
- Own the design of features and flows within a lending product area, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Define how credit appears inside existing workflows — invoices, payroll, banking, cash flow — so offers arrive at the moment of need rather than in a tab nobody visits.
- Hold the bar on craft: clarity, simplicity, and language a customer actually understands.
Design with data
- Partner with product and data science to shape experiments, not just design the variants — bring a hypothesis and a view on what a given result would mean.
- Read activation, application, approval, and drop-off data fluently, and use it to decide what to build next.
- Know what a test can prove and what it can't, and when qualitative research is the faster path to an answer.
Work across the system
- Partner across product teams so lending products complement each other rather than compete for the same moment of customer attention.
- Contribute to the patterns and design system for lending so the team can ship consistently at speed.
Influence and craft
- Articulate design rationale to product and engineering partners, and bring a clear recommendation rather than a menu of options.
- Raise the quality bar through critique and shared standards.
- Use AI in your own workflow to prototype, explore, and pressure-test ideas — and bring a point of view on where AI genuinely helps the customer versus where it introduces risk in a regulated lending context.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of product design experience, preferably on large-scale consumer or small business products. Experience with lending, payments, or other financial services is a plus.
- Track record of shipping features and flows end to end, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, and fluency with design systems.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes.
- Experience designing for experimentation — shaping tests, interpreting results, and iterating on what you learn.
- Ability to convey ideas through storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping, and to bring stakeholders along with a clear narrative.
- A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design principles and craft.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Design, Product Management, and Engineering partners.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, or depth.

Product Designer Jobs in Mountain View: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a product designer job in Mountain View?
Start by targeting Mountain View's dominant sectors: enterprise software, consumer hardware, and AI products, where most local openings concentrate. Companies in the North Bayshore corridor and Shoreline West tech campuses hire product designers at every level. A portfolio that shows systems-level thinking, end-to-end product flows, and cross-functional collaboration carries real weight here, since many Mountain View teams ship at a scale where design decisions have broad downstream impact.
Which companies hire product designers in Mountain View?
Employers hiring product designers in Mountain View right now include Intuit, Google, and EarnIn, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Mountain View's hiring mix skews toward large-scale technology companies alongside mid-size product-led software firms, many of which maintain dedicated in-house design organizations with multiple seniority tracks.
Are there remote product designer jobs in Mountain View?
Yes, though availability depends on the role, since visual and research-heavy product design work is more remote-friendly than hardware or embedded design, which often requires on-site collaboration. About 100% of product designer openings tied to Mountain View are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting broader flexibility among the software and platform companies headquartered here. Roles focused on UX research, interaction design, and design systems tend to offer the most location flexibility.
How can I get a product designer job in Mountain View with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Mountain View is through associate or junior product designer roles at mid-size software companies along the Castro Street corridor, which hire earlier-career designers more consistently than large tech campuses. Building a portfolio with two or three well-documented case studies, even from academic or freelance projects, is the clearest edge. Contract and rotational programs at Mountain View's platform companies also serve as on-ramps to full-time roles for candidates who demonstrate systems thinking early.
