Product Development Manager Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a product development manager job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's medtech and biotech clusters in Kendall Square and the Longwood Medical Area, where product development manager demand is highest. Life sciences device companies, robotics startups, and consumer tech firms in the Seaport District are consistent hirers. Candidates who can show hardware-software integration experience or regulated-product development cycles have a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire product development managers in Boston?

Boston's employer mix skews heavily toward medical device manufacturers, life sciences firms, and venture-backed deep-tech startups, making it one of the more specialized product development markets in the country.
Are there remote product development manager jobs in Boston?
Yes, though availability varies since product development management often involves hands-on lab, prototype, or cross-functional team coordination work that favors in-person presence. About 85% of product development manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote flexibility most common in the roadmap planning, vendor coordination, and program management portions of the role.
How can I get a product development manager job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is moving laterally from a technical role, such as a process engineer, research associate, or quality engineer at a Kendall Square biotech or a Seaport hardware startup. Boston's dense cluster of medtech companies regularly hires associate program managers and product operations coordinators as stepping-stone roles. Familiarity with FDA-regulated development cycles or stage-gate processes gives candidates a meaningful advantage locally.
