Entry Level Product Security Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level product security engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who can demonstrate hands-on skills over credentials alone. A portfolio showing vulnerability assessments, CTF (capture-the-flag) competition results, or a home lab setup signals practical ability. Foundational certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CEH help, and any internship or co-op experience in a security team, even brief, puts your application ahead of the pack.
Which companies hire entry level product security engineers?
Companies hiring entry level product security engineers right now include Affirm, Plaid, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Both large technology firms and fast-growing startups hire at this level, as many are actively building out dedicated product security functions and need junior engineers to support threat modeling, secure code review, and vulnerability management.
Are there remote entry level product security engineer jobs?
Yes, though remote availability at the entry level is more limited than for senior roles. About 63% of entry level product security engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, meaning a meaningful share of positions still expect on-site presence, particularly at employers who prioritize in-person mentorship and team integration for candidates early in their careers.
Are these new grad product security engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior product security engineer roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or academic projects in place of full-time history, and does not require prior professional certification as a hard requirement. If a posting mentions portfolios, degree programs, or student competitions, it is designed for candidates entering the field for the first time.
Which industries hire the most entry level product security engineers?
Entry Level product security engineer roles concentrate in Banking & Financial Services, Technology & Software, and Artificial Intelligence, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they ship consumer-facing products at scale and face intense regulatory and reputational pressure to embed security earlier in the development lifecycle, creating demand for junior engineers who can work directly within product teams.
