About Forma
The market for employee benefits is broken. Companies spend millions annually on employee benefits that employees neither value nor regularly use. Founded in 2017, Forma set out to build a better model by challenging traditional one-size-fits-all approaches.
Forma’s flexible benefits software helps companies offer competitive benefits packages while reducing costs and inefficiencies, by giving employees more choice and flexibility in how they spend their benefit allowances. The platform also saves HR professionals countless hours managing and supporting various point solutions.
Using Forma, companies can select from a suite of products that include Lifestyle Spending Accounts, Health Spending Accounts, Health Reimbursement Arrangements, Flexible Spending Accounts, and more to design and deliver customized benefits programs–all through a single platform. Employees then have three choices to spend account funds: The Forma Store with discounted products and services, The Forma Visa Card, or claim reimbursement backed by Forma’s world-class member support team.
Forma has helped hundreds of the world’s most admired companies, including Stripe, Zoom, Lululemon, and Affirm, design and support flexible, inclusive benefits programs for nearly a million employees. And, we are seeing great success with 98% customer retention, 75 NPS, and 98 CSAT ratings from members.
Forma is backed by Emergence Capital and Ribbit Capital and has received numerous awards for its exponential growth, its software innovation, and as a “Great Place to Work.”
About the Role
Join our Product Experience (PX) team and help build the systems behind Forma's member and admin experience - the member portal, admin portal, mobile app, and the integrations that power them. You'll work across the stack to deliver intuitive, secure, and scalable experiences that members and customer admins rely on every day.
This role is fullstack-preferred, but we're also open to strong backend engineers who are eager to grow into fullstack work.
You Will
Design, build, and maintain backend services that power Forma's benefits platform — including APIs for account lifecycle, transactions (claims, reimbursements, contributions), and member management.
Work across React/TypeScript/NestJS services, contributing to whichever codebase the work requires.
Build and consume event-driven integrations using Google Pub/Sub, enabling reliable communication between services.
Write well-tested, production-ready code and take ownership of your services in production - including on-call responsibilities, monitoring (Datadog), and incident response.
Collaborate closely with product, ops, customer success teams and engineers across the different teams to deliver features that serve members, customer admins, and internal operations teams.
Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and processes that help the team ship faster and more reliably.
Use AI tools thoughtfully as part of your workflow - we encourage engineers to leverage AI assistants to accelerate development, improve code quality, and explore solutions faster, while maintaining strong judgment and ownership of the work they ship.
Preferred Skills
2–5 years of professional experience building backend services and APIs.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript/NestJS
Solid experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL - schema design, query optimization, and migrations.
Experience with event-driven architectures or messaging systems (e.g., Pub/Sub, Kafka, SQS/SNS) is a strong plus.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure - GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure experience translates well. Bonus points for experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD pipelines.
Frontend experience with React and TypeScript (strongly preferred). Familiarity with MUI, Tailwind, or component-driven UI development is a plus.
Comfortable with observability tools (logging, metrics, alerting) - we use Datadog, but experience with similar platforms counts.
Experience at a growth-stage startup where you've had to balance speed with quality.
You start with the WHY, and aren’t afraid of asking questions out of curiosity.
Fintech, benefits, or HR tech experience is a plus - especially if you've worked with financial transactions, compliance requirements, or third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, Plaid).

Remote-first working environment
Medical, dental and vision insurance plans
Employee wellness program
One-time home office stipend
401(k) savings plan

Entry Level Product Software Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level product software engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level weigh portfolio projects, internships, and hands-on coursework heavily because most candidates lack years of professional experience. Tailor your resume to each job description, highlight any product-focused work like building or shipping a feature, and practice product thinking in interviews. Candidates who can articulate user impact alongside technical decisions stand out at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level product software engineers?
Companies hiring entry level product software engineers right now include Plaid, Topaz Labs, and TikTok USDS JV, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The hiring mix tends to include high-growth startups, established technology firms, and enterprise companies actively building out early-career engineering pipelines.
Are there remote entry level product software engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles still make up a significant share of openings at this level. About 20% of entry level product software engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so candidates with location flexibility have more options, but major metro areas still concentrate the highest volume of roles.
Are these new grad product software engineer jobs?
Yes, the openings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or academic projects as qualifying experience, or specifically calls out a portfolio in lieu of a long work history. Look for language like "new grad," "junior," or "0-2 years" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level product software engineers?
Entry Level product software engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Manufacturing, and Telecommunications, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive early-career hiring because they invest heavily in product development cycles and need engineers who can contribute to shipping features quickly from day one.
