Senior Level Program Development Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level program development manager job?
Candidates who land senior level program development manager roles typically demonstrate end-to-end program ownership, not just task execution. Employers look for professionals who have led complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, built or mentored program teams, and tied program outcomes directly to organizational priorities. A strong portfolio of programs you have designed, scaled, or turned around will carry more weight than credentials alone.
Which companies hire senior level program development managers?
Companies hiring senior level program development managers right now include Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and QTS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate in large enterprises, government contractors, healthcare systems, and mission-driven nonprofits that run complex, ongoing program portfolios requiring experienced leadership.
Are there remote senior level program development manager jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by sector and employer. About 40% of senior level program development manager openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements being the most common for roles that involve direct team leadership or cross-departmental coordination. Fully remote positions exist primarily in technology, consulting, and national nonprofit organizations.
What makes a program development manager role senior level?
Senior level program development manager roles are defined by scope, autonomy, and leadership responsibility. Where mid-level roles execute within defined programs, senior roles set program direction, own outcomes across multiple workstreams, influence organizational strategy, and mentor or manage other program staff. Employers expect candidates to operate with minimal oversight and to represent the program function with executive stakeholders.
Which industries hire the most senior level program development managers?
Senior Level program development manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because their programs tend to be large in scale, long in duration, and high in regulatory or strategic complexity, creating sustained demand for seasoned program leaders.
