Project Controls Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls engineer job in Phoenix?
Target Phoenix's most active hiring sectors: large-scale infrastructure, commercial construction, and utility expansion. Engineering and construction firms clustered in Tempe, Chandler, and the Deer Valley corridor post consistently. Candidates with experience in Primavera P6 scheduling, cost forecasting, or earned value management stand out locally. Building familiarity with the Arizona Department of Transportation and Salt River Project project environments gives you an additional edge in this market.
Which companies hire project controls engineers in Phoenix?
Phoenix project controls engineer roles are posted by Sundt, Cushman & Wakefield, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The Phoenix market skews toward large engineering, procurement, and construction firms alongside public utilities and municipal infrastructure owners.
Are there remote project controls engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, but selectively. Project controls engineering is largely site- and project-dependent, so fully remote roles are less common than in pure analytical fields. About 67% of project controls engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The reporting, forecasting, and scheduling coordination portions of the role are most likely to be performed remotely, while site walks and owner meetings typically stay in person.
How can I get a project controls engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is through a project coordinator or scheduler role at a mid-size engineering or construction firm, which then transitions into controls work. Phoenix-area infrastructure owners and construction managers frequently hire junior schedulers with Primavera P6 or MS Project exposure. Internships through Arizona State University's engineering programs or entry-level positions at local public works departments build the foundational experience employers here expect before moving into a full controls engineer title.
Which industries hire the most project controls engineers in Phoenix?
Most project controls engineer openings in Phoenix sit in Construction & Real Estate and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Phoenix's sustained infrastructure investment, utility grid expansion, and commercial development pipeline keep demand in these sectors consistently above the national average.
