Project Controls Manager Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls manager job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's construction, life sciences, and infrastructure sectors, which drive the heaviest hiring. The Seaport District, Longwood Medical Area, and major transit corridors around the MBTA expansion are where most openings concentrate. Candidates who combine earned value management experience with proficiency in Primavera P6 or Oracle Primavera Cloud stand out. Familiarity with large capital programs, particularly healthcare construction or public transit projects, gives a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire project controls managers in Boston?
Boston project controls manager roles are posted by PwC, Skanska, and Amazon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The Boston market draws from a mix of major general contractors, owner-representative firms, life sciences real estate developers, and large public agencies managing capital infrastructure programs.
Are there remote project controls manager jobs in Boston?
Yes, though with limits: project controls manager work tied to active construction sites or field operations is mostly on-site, while cost engineering, scheduling analysis, and reporting functions can run remotely. About 27% of project controls manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at owner-side and program management firms in the Seaport and Financial District.
How can I get a project controls manager job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through a project controls analyst or scheduler role at a large general contractor or owner-representative firm working on major capital programs. Boston's active life sciences construction pipeline and MBTA capital projects regularly bring on junior controls staff. A background in construction management, engineering, or finance paired with Primavera or Microsoft Project training makes candidates competitive for these stepping-stone roles.
Which industries hire the most project controls managers in Boston?
Boston project controls manager roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's sustained life sciences real estate boom, major hospital system expansions in Longwood, and ongoing MBTA and infrastructure investment keep demand for project controls expertise consistently high across those sectors.
