Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Civil CAD Designer to join its collaborative team in Milwaukee, WI; Cleveland, OH; and Pittsburgh, PA. This individual will serve a key function in assisting the planning and designing of civil engineering land development projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a passionate, collaborative team of civil engineers, working on exciting and meaningful projects across many different market sectors.
Job Responsibilities
- Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects;
- Prepare the planning and designing documents of civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Engineers using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
- Perform zoning and other feasibility assessments for development projects;
- Perform field inspection services, as needed;
- Write and/or review draft reports, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports;
- Interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives in close collaboration with supervisor; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Sciences, enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with a focus in Civil Engineering, demonstrated equivalent knowledge, OR extensive AutoCAD/Civil 3D training;
- 3+ years of experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, and soil erosion is desired;
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal land use permitting;
- Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D design skills;
- Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
- Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing.
