Project Engineer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Atlanta?
The strongest path into Atlanta's project engineer market is targeting the city's construction, civil infrastructure, and commercial development sectors, which drive consistent hiring. Firms working on MARTA expansion, stadium and mixed-use development in Midtown, and data center buildouts in the metro area actively recruit project engineers. Candidates with experience in fast-track commercial construction or utility-scale energy projects stand out locally. Networking through the Atlanta chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers also opens doors that job boards alone won't.
Which companies hire project engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta project engineer roles are posted by DPR Construction, Arcadis, and Amazon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's market includes a mix of national engineering and construction firms with major Southeast regional offices, utilities like Georgia Power, and fast-growing commercial developers headquartered in Buckhead and Midtown.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, but only for certain specialties. Project engineer work that is site-based or field-dependent is almost never remote, while roles focused on design review, scheduling, cost engineering, or document control can be hybrid. About 17% of project engineer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, skewing toward technology, defense, and program management positions. Atlanta's growing cluster of defense contractors and tech firms near Peachtree Corners and Downtown post the most remote-eligible roles.
How can I get a project engineer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is through project engineer associate or field engineer roles with mid-size general contractors and engineering firms that are actively building out the metro area. Georgia Tech's co-op pipeline feeds directly into firms like Brasfield and Gorrie, Holder Construction, and large infrastructure consultancies with Atlanta offices. Applying to assistant project engineer or project coordinator titles first, then moving laterally once you have site experience, is how most early-career candidates break in locally. A PE-in-training designation from PELS accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta project engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's role as the Southeast's logistics, construction, and energy hub means those sectors generate steady, year-round demand rather than seasonal spikes, making the city a reliable market for project engineers across experience levels.
