Project Engineer Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Raleigh?
Focus your search on Raleigh's construction, civil infrastructure, utilities, and data center development sectors, which drive consistent demand for project engineers. The Brier Creek corridor, the Research Triangle Park area, and downtown's ongoing mixed-use development all concentrate hiring. Candidates with hands-on field experience, proficiency in project management software, and familiarity with North Carolina building codes stand out with local engineering firms and general contractors.
Which companies hire project engineers in Raleigh?
Companies currently hiring project engineers in Raleigh include ECS Limited, HNTB Corporation, and THP Limited, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Raleigh's hiring base is a mix of regional engineering and construction firms, utility providers, and large technology campus developers who staff project engineers across the full project lifecycle.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, though project engineer roles are largely on-site given the hands-on nature of field coordination and construction oversight. About 75% of project engineer openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles tend to involve design review, scheduling, or cost estimation work rather than active site management.
How can I get a project engineer job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is landing an assistant project engineer or project coordinator role with a regional construction or civil engineering firm. Raleigh's sustained development pipeline, including road widening projects, utility expansion, and mixed-use construction in areas like North Hills and downtown, means local firms regularly hire recent graduates who can contribute to submittals, RFI tracking, and scheduling under a senior PE.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Raleigh?
Raleigh project engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Raleigh's rapid population growth, active data center buildout, and public infrastructure investment keep these sectors at the front of local engineering hiring.
