Project Engineer Jobs in Fort Worth: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Fort Worth?
Fort Worth hiring concentrates in four areas: defense and aerospace contractors near NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, energy and pipeline firms in the Alliance corridor, heavy construction and infrastructure companies along I-35W, and manufacturing operations in the southeast industrial districts. Candidates with field experience in one of those sectors, plus proficiency in project scheduling software, move faster through local hiring processes. Targeting firms that hold long-term government or utility contracts gives you the most stable openings.
Which companies hire project engineers in Fort Worth?
Employers hiring project engineers in Fort Worth right now include Lockheed Martin, WSP, and Autonomous Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Fort Worth's mix of defense primes, energy operators, municipal contractors, and large-scale construction firms means openings appear across a wider range of employer types than in most Texas cities.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Fort Worth?
Yes, but only selectively. Project engineering is largely a hands-on, site-dependent role, so fully remote positions are uncommon in construction, energy, and defense. About 16% of project engineer openings tied to Fort Worth are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to cluster in planning, estimating, and systems engineering functions rather than field coordination roles.
How can I get a project engineer job in Fort Worth with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Fort Worth is through a project coordinator or field engineer role with a regional construction or infrastructure contractor, many of which staff projects tied to ongoing highway, utility, and development work across Tarrant County. Lockheed Martin and Bell, both major local employers, run structured engineering development programs that accept recent graduates. A degree in civil, mechanical, or industrial engineering combined with an internship at a Fort Worth-area firm is the clearest door into a permanent role.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Fort Worth?
The sectors hiring the most project engineers in Fort Worth are Mining & Natural Resources and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Fort Worth's role as a defense manufacturing hub, combined with its position on major energy pipeline routes and a sustained commercial construction cycle, keeps demand across those sectors consistently high.
