Job Description:
- L3Harris' Spectrum Superiority segment is seeking a Project Engineer responsible for managing the day‑to‑day tactical execution of assigned engineering programs and Global Trade Compliance projects. This role oversees cost, schedule, and technical performance, serving as the primary liaison between engineering project management, cross‑functional teams, and leadership. The position monitors project progress, resolves complex issues, and implements improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. It also provides coordination across resource managers, ensures required reviews and approvals are met, and may conduct project analyses to support future program effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
- Manage day‑to‑day tactical activities for assigned engineering programs and Global Trade Compliance Manage day‑to‑day tactical activities for assigned engineering programs and Global Trade Compliance projects.
- Oversee cost, schedule, and technical performance to ensure alignment with Program Manager and customer expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering project management, cross‑functional teams, and line leadership.
- Monitor project status, budgets, and schedules, preparing reports and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Identify and resolve complex project issues to support productivity, quality, and customer‑satisfaction objectives.
- Develop and maintain mechanisms for tracking project progress, enabling timely intervention and problem‑solving.
- Coordinate with resource managers to ensure appropriate staffing, project reviews, and required approvals are obtained.
- Guide, coach, and support project team members, contributing to improved processes and execution effectiveness.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners such as customers or vendors to ensure alignment and issue resolution.
- Conduct project analyses during phase‑down and capture lessons learned to benefit future engineering programs. projects.
Required Qualifications (one of the following):
- An ABET (EAC/CAC) accredited Bachelor's of Science degree in an engineering discipline, and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
- Currently hold a DoD security clearance
- Comprehensive level knowledge of job area. May have in-depth knowledge of project management
- Implements strategic goals established by leadership on assigned projects
- Establishes operational plans for job area with short-term impact on results
- Expert in Earned Value Management and cost/schedule estimation
- Experience coordinating across multiple engineering functions
- Experience communicating directly with customer and in front of non-technical audience
- Knowledge and experience using AI tools for staffing, forecasting and other related technical tasks
- Experience in system level development, requirements definition, analysis, and risk mitigation for Communications, Open Systems Architecture, Satellite Communications, and/or Electronic Presentation and communication skills
- Space Communications Design, Architecture Experience
- Space Parts, Materials and Process Background
- Proposal experience with DoD contracts
