SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to oversee quality and efficiency for assigned production line(s), while driving continuous improvement through process development, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving. This role leverages data from CIQ, TARS, and other systems to identify opportunities and implement performance enhancements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continually strive to balance and optimize line throughput, including efforts to minimize changeover downtime (i.e., common set-ups).
- Monitor machine management data in order to maximize utilization and minimize machine-generated scrap.
- Provide input on creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.
- Create and maintain wave and reflow soldering profiles.
- Ensure that process parameters are within acceptable tolerances for products and components, and result in solder quality that meets IPC-A-610 standards (or other applicable requirements).
- Design and/or procure production tooling, including stencils, vacuum plates, wave solder pallets, and product-specific fixtures and jigs.
- Coordinate line reconfigurations and machine move activities, including equipment arrival, positioning and installation, and scheduling of support groups (Machine Support, Facilities, MIS, etc.) using the approved communication process.
- Verify that machine maintenance is performed as scheduled on assigned line(s).
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including process development, line readiness, and documentation.
- Lead or support root cause analysis activities using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
- Develop, review, and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues and improve product yields.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper implementation of engineering changes (ECOs) and validate process impacts.
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives through yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and waste elimination.
- Support training efforts for operators and technicians on equipment, processes, and best practices.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with ESD, safety, and environmental standards.
- Encourage open communication and exchange of information within the Manufacturing Engineering department and across functional teams.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position as directed by supervisor.
- Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; or
- 1–2 years of related manufacturing engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in electronics manufacturing and SMT processes.
- Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
- Experience working with automated assembly equipment and process controls.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, Minitab, or similar tools.
- Basic understanding of ERP/MES systems.

- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
